It's a waste of time as it can't be ridden by 95% of bike riders. An exercise is futility if you ask me.

Yes I mean tubs but I put 2 and 2 together and figured they must be.
I'd like to lighten my bike up but I tried tubs once many years ago and decided I didn't like dealing with punctures.
If I could reliably stop punctures or patch them without removing the tyre (maybe with some injected goop) I would consider using them again.

Not really. It's an exercise in extremes. True it's not everyday rider friendly with ultra light tubs, probably fragile wheels, a Jubilee derailleur and down tube shifters but it's extraordinarily light. I'd love to take it for a spin. I'm sure there are lessons there that may take a standard carbon bike down to ~5 kg without compromising reliability or convenience.

Anyway it is no more. Gunter sold off the bits. He probably found it inconvenient as you say and got sick of throwing money at it. I believe it cost him an arm and a leg.

Go back to tubs and use Stan's Tire Sealant. Seriousely good stuff and works! Get it from any bike shop. Have a look at this video which proves it works :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTlZvOVG8zs :D

Drool! I love Scott Foils - they'd have to be one of my all-time favourite bikes.

Pawnii, what have you done to get your bike down to 6.2kg?

Thanks Weasel. A Foil frameset is not easy to find atm. I got the frameset from the U.S. It ended up costing me $200 for delivery and then the tax man hit me with an import tax of $350!
The Australian distributor, Avanti, wanted nothing to do with me. The earliest you could get a full Foil bike is Feb as they've ran out of stock...they told me they have no plans in importing framesets from Scott in 2012...maybe 2013

I built it using the parts of my old Addict. I damaged the Addict so the Foil is the replacement.
Here is the build list if you're interested.

Mate I'm loving the Foil. I've put 1000km on it now and I'm getting really confident with descending.
I haven't contacted the seller about the crack yet. No one is sure if it's a tiny crack or a scratch. I'll have to get a carbon expert to look at it and tell me

It's a Vittoria saddle bag. Not sure what the exact name of it is. I remember when i brought it, it came with a tube and leavers included.

I brought the frameset from Rocky Mountain Cyclery.
To be honest they are slow to reply. Sometimes taking 5 days to reply to my emails.

They shipped the frameset without the cable stops for the brake cable's internal routing. It's a Scott Foil specific cable stop and the Scott distributor in Oz don't stock them and won't get them unless you purchased your Foil from an Oz retailer.

After a week of emails they finally found the cable stop and have shipped it to me. That was on the 8th December and i still haven't got the part. :x
Lucky i have an engineering mate that used a 3D modelling program and fabricated one out of aluminium for me

Just remember that if you import anything over $1k then you will be hit with import tax.

It ended up costing me $200 for delivery + $350 for import tax (was still my cheapest option)

I had no choice because the Oz distributor (Avanti bikes) for Scott Foil bikes will not bring in framesets until next financial year.
