Swapped the Racing Ralphs on the CX bike for the 28mm Schwalbe slicks from my single speed for yesterday's Domestique series ride to Lake Mountain... although they're pretty heavy and didn't exactly inspire confidence on the descent, the reflective strips on the sidewalls look kinda cool

She's going to be a costly machine to build. About the only difference between it (it was a spare frame that wasn't used) and the sister bikes is they had Dura Ace 10spd Di2, disc rear wheels and 55/44 chainrings. Mine will have Bontrager wheels of some sort. It'll take a few months to build - mainly because of the cost. The price of the aerobars alone would make your eyes water. The bike is black/white/red (matte finish), the bars have the same colour scheme, the brakes also have the same red colour.

Fun to have a few different bikes sitting there. :)

+2 I am 92kg and 184cm, not sure what my steed weighs at the moment, it would be under 10kg I guess, but at 7.1kg if you are that worried about weigh skip breaky or have a decent p@^ before you head out to lighten the load. My thoughts are work on the engine. :D :D
It is easier said than done - it takes a long time and lots of effort to make it happen. I think I'm about the same height as person asking the questions, but I'm quite a bit lighter. That makes a huge difference, more than what 0.5kg bike weight saving would do. That said, I shouldn't talk - I'm hardly the fastest rider out there.

I got a surprise in the email this morning, unfortunately the wrong forks have been included with the P5 Six, basically included P5 three forks. So to make up for that, they've included the seat post and aerobar kit (3T Aduro).   That's saving me time and a heck of a lot of money! :D Wrong fork is easy to sort out. Can't complain about that. 8)

Lovely ride through the dandenongs today. Weather perfect in the AM. The Basin, through sassafras, Olinda, Mt D, and back through Montrose then back home- absolute bliss. 2nd or 3rd time and don't think there is a better ride during the week.

The only bad note is it smashes my veloviewer score everytime I do it. From about 90 to mid 60s on that bike now! ( and overall score took about a 4 or 5 point hit!) Just so many people doing the 1 in 20 nowdays ( or a lot better people than me!)

how do you find the 28's?

i'm looking for a large slick for my CX.. figure i'd make use of the space and go for something in the 30-35c range... but they are either heavy or expensive! plenty of decent option's in a 28 however...

TBH not amazing... but then they're not race tyres. I have some Conti GP4000Ss in 25 to try; possibly a little on the small side for my wide MTB rims - but will be an interesting comparison. Might have to track down something decent in 28...

Too hot today, so as I walked through the garage all I did was squeeze the rear tyre of the fixie to see if the puncture repair held. So far so good, maybe tomorrow I will ride one (or buy another)

Pushed her the last 250ish metres to work after a flat.

Wired up a Cervelo P5 with Di2. Powered it up to test and all working well. :) so apart from different shifters needed, all working well.

I wanted to put that image up yesterday but unfortunately copying the link on a phone proved impossible.

As you can see there is still a lot of stuff to get. Brakes, bottom bracket, chainrings, crankset, Di2 aero shifters, etc. The Magura RT8TT hydraulic brakes are looking like the most difficult and expensive to acquire at the moment, aside from the chainrings and cranks.

Wheelswap on the commuter, patched a bunch of tubes and rode sans hemlet for a while.

the rear der was not changing well, then all of a sudden mid ride, the rear shifter won't move the gears at all.
First thought was the shifter was stuffed.
Took it to LBS and he said the cable was more likely frayed and snapped inside the shifter....which turned out exactly right.
He couldn't fix it for a coupla days, so I got him to explain quickly any gotchas, then took it home with new cable and fitted it myself.
Works like a charm now.

Also full clean; new tires, tubes, chain check, re-fit the headset, rear der, and bidon cages....and swap front brake pads with rear after sanding them a bit. Feels good to go out with full confidence in your machine, esp today when i got a couple of PRs.

broke the hanger... reluctantly handed over $40 for a replacement, and then tested out my new pedals.

i know they are a heavily argued pedal... but in my eyes, egg beater's are awesome! they are much easier to get in and out of than the shimano's i had. should be perfect for CX.
