Congrats. You've lost an impressive amount of weight - don't be too fixated on that last kg. If you have upped the ante on the cycling workload, there's a good chance you're building muscle.randyrob wrote:I'm 76kg as of this morning and i just know the last kg is going to kill merandyrob wrote:Original Weight (kg): 98.5 (1st Jan 2009)

Birthdays and celebrations will pose threats, but you can't live like a monk. A nice slice of black-forest cake, tiramisu, mud cake etc.,. would be a well-earned reward. Crikey, I'm feeling hungry already - temptation get thee away from my shoulder.
Cheers

Weight on NYE: 100kg
Now (after almost 8 months of cycling, better diet, and no alchohol): 85.5kg
Target: Around 80kg (I still have mini love-handles around my waist - can't stand them! )
2 weeks ago I deliberately extended my usual commute. Normally it's about 5.3km (between St Kilda West and my workplace at Northbank Wharf), basically along Canterbury Rd, City Road and Clarendon St in mornings and Clarendon St then Albert Park in afternoons. I got bored with this, and wanted to see what effect extending it might make. So it's now the Montague St down to Port Melbourne bike path (along the tram line), then Beaconsfield Pde, which is about 8km, a 50% increase. I have high hopes for that
Also 8 months ago, a 20km ride on Saturday and again on Sunday was about my limit on weekends. On the long weekend just past, I rode 70km on Sunday and another 70km on Monday, so I'm hoping the increased weekend rides will see me shedding a few more kilos I could do without.
[edit 16/6/09] Sorry should have mentioned my height is 190cm so my current weight of 85.5kg puts me in the normal BMI category.

Ive just brought my first road bike just over two weeks ago. I brought hybrid for eight months ago after breaking my left knee in two places, i needed the exercise but really grew to hate riding it on the road so with some sweet talking to the minister for finance purchased my new toy.On the Hybrid i was doing about 15ks a day and a longer ride on the weekends without any noticeable loss but since getting the roadie i have upped to 50ks four days and two 20k rides in between and i have now really turned a corner. Have been looking over the forum topics lately and through this one mite keep me motivated to keep trying to loose weight.I have been doing pretty well so far but as they say the first bit is the easiest. As this thread runs out at the end of the year i wont make my goals too high for the two months we have got left.
Starting weight 10/10/09 115.8
Target weight for 2009 105
Today's weight 26/10/09 112.3

When I was in my 20s, if I did as much cycling I would be a biafran ( look anorexic). Weight not coming off, I don’t eat junk at all but may eat more calories than needed. Well at list it is not going up

Plenty of the right stuff can still be pretty bad for you. You've made the right start by exercising regularly, and have recognised that there are good and bad foods. Maybe just need to back-off on the quantities. Calorie counting, including measuring what you eat and drink, can be helpful. You need to be aware of where most of the calories are coming from, and work on reducing serve sizes or substituting for better choices. Soft drinks and orange juice can be hidden dangers, and hoeing into a 200 g piece of steak when all you need is 80g is another common mistake.Sweeper59 wrote:plenty of salads, vegies, fruit, chicken & fish and no junk
