Week 9 2008

Today's weigh in= 86.9kg's :D
Movement from last week= -1.1kg's
Starting weight= 96.5kg's
Total loss= 9.6kg's
Still to lose to reach goal=4.9kg's
Target Weight=82kg's

Riding distance: about 150km's

Finally I've cracked thru the 87 barrier. Many times I've seen 86.x or even 85.x once or twice but never on a Monday morning. As the weather was cooler last week the desire for beer decreased and yesterday I found the ultimate after ride lunch; wild rice sushi rolls! Much nicer than normal ones and lower Gi, better texture too, pity the shop is nowhere near work or home
The older I get, the better I was...

Original weight and waist: 80.2kg & 91cm
last week: 79kg & 91cm
this week: 79kg & 91cm
movement since last week: -0kg & -0.5cm
total movement to date: -1.2 & +0.0cm
Target weight: 70kg

So this week I have managed to keep my weaight steady - I cycled twice to work (so that equates to 4x 1 hour work outs and 85km) so I am happy to stay the same from last week since I just lost 1.2 kg with no exercise. I am hoping to cycle to work 3 time a week - and lose a little weight this week. I am definetely feeling healtheir after last weeks mild exercise.

Weight loss

Postby P Buddery » Tue Mar 04, 2008 4:57 pm

Could we possibly be serious here?

One of the joys of lots of bicycle riding is that one need never care about one's weight. The fact that I am about 100 kg with a BMI of 31 becomes irrelevant when one considers the hill I climb twice a day.
Few bikes climb this hill, and almost all of those overtake me.

While I'm here, chest = 105 cm, waist = 105 cm and hips = 102.

I commute on a FSMTB or a 12-speed Nishiki (Repco) Tri-A, and I carry tools, including a 10-inch shifter required to tighten the MTB back wheel. No problem - it's on wheels.

Target weight would be about 90 kg, but don't hold your breath unless your swimming underwater.

One of the great things about this forum is that we are tolerant of others and what they want to achieve. This may not be important to you and that is fine; you don't need to participate in it.

However for others it is important. It is to me. You see my health is very important. I want to loose weight, I want to get fit and I want to live to enjoy my grand children. Cycling is helping me to achieve those goals.

There was no way I was going to be able to lose anything this week, I had a week away on the motorbike with mates, I'm actually fairly happy I only put on 2.2kg with the amount of crap I ate in the last week

Now I need to do something about it, got the next 5 days off work, so the aim is to get out for at least an hour a day, so I'm feeling up to doing the ride to work next monday.

Not to worry NotTim, when I first started in May last year I was only doing between 10 and 20ks a week. It gets easier the more K's you do the more the weight will start to fall of.

Your still losing weight and that's all that counts. Well done. :D

The frustrating part is I was doing 100-150km a week, but I've lost a lot of fitness in the last few months, and I'm struggling to regain it.

Just need to get off my arse and ride more, once I'm back to riding to work I'll be doing plenty of miles, but doing half the commute distance the other day buggered me, so I'm not quite there yet

It took me about 3 months to really get going. Then Christmas came and it all went "BUMP" and I put 2 Kilos back on.
It's taken me nearly 5 weeks after Christmas to get back on track and it's only the last 3 weeks that I'm constantly going down in weight again. :)

I'm trying a different approach this time. Like most overweight people I've lost weight before(and put it all back on  )
What I'm doing this time is taking slower and not cutting out everything I like.
Working on cutting down and doing more, in both exercise and normal day to day life. :)
I've found this forum a great help in refocusing after my "BUMP" :)

Now I'm not really trying to lose weight at the moment, but I got on the scales this morning and I've gone from 67.8 about a month ago to 64.3 this morning. A year ago I was about 72kg.

I'm 174cm and think I could comfortably sit at about 62/63kg, maybe as low as 60.

Got a good reason: goes faster up hills. ;)

Week 5 - Mon 17/3/08

Movement from last week (+ or - kg): +1.5kg Grrrrrr
Target Weight (kg): 100
Total Lost (kg): 0.7kg
Distance ridden In the last week: 154km

Ok, slightly depressing, at least I rode a lot more last week. Diet went to hell, but I rode 6 days last week and my fitness levels have increased noticeably, so at least that's progress. The aim this week is to ride to work twice, which should help keep my distances up, next week it's ride to work 3 times.
