I had already decided that after this year - never again!
I'll still keep the journal but it'll probably be private.

Well done on shedding all that weight Pete!

At 6ft 1 and lean of build I've always been told I'm a lanky bugger.
My weight topped out at 76 Kg a few years ago, but has averaged 74 for the last 4 odd years. This stood out as a little pot on the front of my lean frame.
over the last 10 years my alcohol intake had crept up to level and frequency that was starting to concern me.
On july 1 I stopped drinking for a period of 6 months to be able to assess any benefits that may arise.
nothing else has changed in my diet.
1 month in and I'd lost 2 kg.
2 months and I'd dropped another.
3 months and I hit 70 kg.
it did dip down to 69 but I've got it back to 70 and it's stable.
basically the alcohol in my lifestyle was worth 4 kg to me.

Alcohol has a high calorific content and is a close second to fats.
Any of you guys who are eating well but have plataued may want to look at dropping the booze for a while and see if it gets things moving again.

I will be back on the beers in the new year, but not with the gusto of the past.

It's interesting how your weight eventually stabilizes if you stick to the same lifestyle. I pretty much don't drink at all.

Started cycling: May 2005 (Weight unknown possibly high 70's)
Oct 2006: 73.2kg
April 2007: 74kg
June 2007: 74kg
Sept 2007: 72kg
Sept 2007: Change of diet experiment. Ate less crap (not that I eat much) and more vegetarian diet.
Oct 2007: 70.5kg
Nov 2007: 69.5kg
Dec 2008: Back to not so vegetarian diet.
March 2008: 71.8kg
Oct 2008: 71.5kg

Target 69kg

Thanks and bummer for you. It has been rocky for me but too. July and August saw me nearly add 4 kg. So have had to burn that off and get back focused. Doing 350 km + a week, eating after riding and using CalorieKing are all helping.

Just got some new scales after my 20-year old ones finally rusted out.

New scales = +3kg immediately. :(

Worse still, I don't know how much of the extra weight is real, since the food in the camp I've been working at is fatty too. Scales said 88.7kg when I got back last week, but now they tell me I'm 84.7kg. I reckon there's some hydration issues going on there .....

Anyway, on Monday this week I was 85.7kg according to the new scales (=+2.7kg since last weighing on 30/09/08)

Cheers,
Graeme

Week 44(Since I started recording in this post) Now doing post every 4 weeks but I missed the last 2

Starting weight this year 105 kilo.

Last post 92 kilos
This post 92 kilos stable

Total Weight loss this year -13 kilos
Total Weight loss since start of cycling -28 kilos

Target at least 90 kilos

Total distance ridden this week 333 kilometres.

Bike Journal Ranking 190 down 26 positions
Country Ranking 12th up 1 position.

G'day

Just updated Garfield for the week.

Not my best week. Riding was off, really suffered on Tuesday’s ride from Joondalup to Fremantle along the coast into 40 km/h winds. I ended up taking Thursday off the bike. This plus just not eating well has cost me dearly. Really need to refocus.
