I've only done a handful of long rides on them but so far so good. I can notice the weight difference mostly on 5-6% gradients. I think for the price they are a good buy. I'm only a lightweight (68kg) so don't put a massive amount of pressure on them, nor can I really shed any light on their stiffness. They are nice light wheelset to compliment a damn light bike!

In it's current state, it's pretty much my dream bike. I say with a reasonable amount of confidence that I won't be spending any more money on bikes for quite some time.....

In what ways are you noticing the weight difference on 5-6% gradients? How about 10% gradient sections?

Hard to explain sogood, they just feel better. Perhaps it's just a perceived benefit, but I think it's easier to hold speed on those gradients that it was with my old wheels.

When the road hits 10%+ for any period of time, it hurts no matter what I'm riding. The few hundred grams less might be getting me to the top a little bit quicker, but I don't notice it.

Gd'day,

i decided to have a 2 wheels cosmetic makeover...tired of motorists pulling up beside me and starring at my ride...maybe the new look will attract less attention

cheers.

Nice looking BMC! What's with the massive chain stay guard? Are you riding it offroad?

The chain stay protector simply makes sure the chain doesn't slap the drive side chain. Good for 2 reasons, 1, if you suffer chain slap, which isn't so common on a road bike, it is quieter, and 2, protects your lovely priceless frame! Last thinf you want is divets in your frame from the chain hitting it.

Fleshpiston, Where did you get that protector? I have a shiny new baby which I would like to protect from staining and chipping.

I'll jump in here NFS, most bike shops will have something. Or, you could buy a neoprene mouse mat (lots of colour choices) and secure with a few zip ties.

My Avanti Atomic with new 1.5" tyres for commuting.

I bought it only about 4 months ago for under $600.00; it suits me just fine. ;)

I'll keep my eye out for them when next in my LBS. Mulger Bill reckons they are fairly readily available. Thanks guys.

If I see one of those things on your bike Sandy I will personally kick your ass old man. Please have some respect for the history of nice looking road bikes.12 tooth sprockets were made to go with big chainrings & doing 80ks an hour. or faster. And remember you cant ride near salt water with those big neoprene chain stay protecters on because your bike may get attact by a shark thinking it was a surfers leg  seriously.

BMX Bandito,
I was also considering foam wrap over the front down tube and the seat tube and maybe borrowing one of your old BMX top tube covers in pink for a bit of colour contrast to really set it off.
You don't approve :?:
Did not see you on this mornings ride. NFS, Leximack, Ozlegacy all in attandance( and went straight back home) :) :)
