Had this a few weeks preparing it for ATB (hopefully the bike transport is gentle! ).

Can't really capture the real colour in the photos but comes up lovely the brushed titanium in real life.

rodneycc - twisted helix... nice! Put some deep profile carbon fiber Enves on it and it will be a mean machine.

Thx Christopher. I was eyeing off Melbnuts Enves in the member sales section a couple of weeks ago. Yeah they would look nice :-)

Thanks. It's a long suffering TCR Advanced, 2013 model. Everytime I look at replacing it I keep coming back to the same conclusion that it's a bloody good bike and most other bikes are a minor incremental improvement. Having said that the availability of some great disc roadies this year might see it retired

That paint job would have cost you a pretty Penny. Possibly eating into n+1 budget?

Quite the opposite actually but your comment must have meant I got something right. Total cost of materials for the job was $50 including custom cut decals, my labour was free. In terms of bang for buck I'm very happy with the outcome.

Riding this one for the first time in a long while:

Image
Image

Fitted some contact slr aero handlebars to get the fit a bit closer to the bike I normally ride. I think this bike will end up having Ay-Up lights on it, my other ones won't fit on the bars. I put the bars on in a hurry and wrapped them in Lizardskin tape, so the cables aren't routed through the bars yet. I'll do that when the cables need replacing.

Those bars are actually quite nice, very good shape for when you are holding the tops of the bars.

Saved up the loose change for this addition to the stable. This should keep me upright on the damp-ish commutes to work from now on. And extend the life of the trusty Ridley.

One trial ride and two commutes so far, and no regrets at all.

Happy (and safe) riding everyone!

On the subject of wet commutes, i built this thing to be my all year round commuter.

Have always liked the aesthetics of beefy tires on thinner frames, and have always wanted to try riding a lefty.

So i dub thee, Sir Monsterslate

After my Trek 7.3FX frame broke on the way home from work last month I decided to replace the frame with a Surly Ogre.

Ended up getting the frame from Bike24, as was not able to source one here :( . My local bike mechanic installed the headset and will be cutting the steering tube (once I am happy with the height). The rest I put together by transferring the wheels across from the LHT and some of the bits I salvaged from the Trek plus a couple of bits I had in my spare bits draw!

The Ogre will be mainly used for off-road touring and a bit of mountain biking with my nephews :D

The Long Haul Trucker is now on work duties and the trek has been replaced under warranty :D. Will be picking up the Trek next week, but I don't think I'll be keeping it.

No worries with that beast breaking on ya. I do like the wonky seat tube and wonky seat post thing happening there lol

Upgraded to 11 speed Ultegra Di2:

Image

Used an existing cassette and connected up the derailleurs. It runs very quietly and smoothly, with the exception of an annoying pinging noise from one of the spokes on the rear wheel (I think). I'll swap wheels if needed and find the culprit that way.

I like the Canyon above as well - very nice bike. But that saddle, for me, those are torture devices.
