210km over three days, and not one commute! Woo-hoo! :D

We're in Adelaide for the week, so I'm making the most of it. Started with 35km Seaford-Willunga-Seaford. We didn't climb the hill, mainly coz Best Mate is useless going up, but the coffee was good. :)

Yesterday was the one I was looking forward to the most. The only part of Adelaide I miss is riding in the hills. I planned the route beforehand and still managed go a little further north than I planned. So I ended up going from Seaford to the city, reliving the old days riding in the traffic, ran out of breath going up Montacute, chased a motorbike down the corkscrew, then had to re-climb all that altitude up Gorge road to Fox Creek.

It was about that point when I was starting to question my sanity as I had to stop for the third time going up a 9% climb on Fox Creek RD. The legs were good and my heart rate was OK, I just could not get enough air down my neck. Knowing I had at least 60km just to get home, I decided to walk, which is the exact point in time a top bloke from Canberra appeared from nowhere and coaxed me into getting back on, which I did until we rode around a switchback and was faced with a wall. I stopped, thanked him for the company and walked the 15% climb to the top.

After that it was Lenswood-Uraidla-Crafers-Blackwood along roads I know REALLY well :D then the Southern Expressway back to Seaford to make it 142.5km, feeling eternally grateful for the tailwind home!

Today was just a 35km doddle with a group Best Mate rides with. Average speed was 19km/h and I reckon I was the youngest by about 20 years

I've done 3000 km so far. My first year of cycling I did 4000 km. My second year I did 6000km and this year I'm hoping to get to 8000 km.

Yeah could possibly hit 10,000 km if I can keep up the current pace. Will see how I go. I've done a 311 km ride and last week I did a 294 km ride, so those big rides have helped me keep ahead of pace.

Nasty incident with a railway crossing resulted in an ambulance trip & a stay in the emergency ward. Had to check out the next day as my dog was alone at home. Left in a wheelchair and currently walking with a stick. 9 days later and walking is still very difficult but I can ride on the trainer. Feeling like I dodged a bullet.

Cracked the 4K mark this morning on what was meant to be a metric before work but a flat cost me time. Grrr.

Despite some serious hilly rides in the last three weeks since the 3k mark my climbing ratio has not changed. Now 35kup.

Sorry folks, let our hosting lapse and are busy moving house the next week. Will be statusbar-less for a little while.

Does the move increase the commute length?

Diagnosis in. Finally 3 weeks after the railway crossing incident. Fractured pelvis.
Fortunately I can still ride on the trainer and get some Zwift kms in.
Hopefully my GP won’t put a ban on that!!!

Cycling here in Guangzhou China is a site to behold, cars all LH drive but cyclists head up/down the road in any direction, providing they are on the right.
Now Zebra crossings , just walk out when you feel there is a reasonable distance & the cars go around you!!!
All cycles are bastard arse broken down pieces of rusty junk, they are there to provide a purpose.

We are here for the Canton Fair an amazing experience by Australian standards, when we see an item we can resell on our online business,
minimum order requirements are in their hundreds!!!!
English in our 5x star hotel is a rarity, at the Fair it is surprisingly difficult, the Chinese are still very Chinese.
A very learning experience.

Ok, I've switched this to the optus user homepage since it's not used anyway :-). Need to change your sig to something like:

For the less skilled internet operators and me cos I can't remember, do we substitute our Strava name in where you've got "kbill" ?

Just copy and paste the entire section before the /cycling _goals bit worked for me.
