Good work both of you. :)

I'm 20km off 15,000km. There is still light today, but my legs feel crap. 266km for the weekend, and 475km for the week is enough.

Reached 21,000km today :D I think 22,000km may be this years effort.

Rode a 100km ride in May & have been out since.
Acting as a house daddy the last few months but hopefully back to a regular ride again.
If there are any 6K riders left in this aggregated forum say HI!
Cheers

I’ll be lucky to make 9k this year. Mostly bad luck, bad management and a sweet little toddler. Find out tonight if I’ve fractured my scaphoid -- doesn’t feel too bad...

I thought I was doing well until I read some above !!!

Anyway, currently sitting on 8,701km and 91,456m elevation gained.

About to go on Xmas leave from Friday and get some good riding in the GC hinterland.

Aim is to get to 9,500kmand 100,000m elevation gain.

The end numbers don’t really matter though as long as we are all safe !!!!

Topped 9500km today. Easy cruise into 10,000 for the year.
Had aimed for 12,000 but losing my Mum mid-year slowed things down for 3 or 4 months.
Start afresh in 2019 with a 12,000 goal.

Looking good. Probably another 2 weeks off. Better than 2 months!

Well done. Always good to enjoy the last few weeks of the year without the pressure!

I had set my target to 10k as I planned to roll less than ‘17 (12300) but snuck over 12 this morning. Have narrowed the elevation gap and now at 115.5k up which is my most ever (‘17 was 108k). Buderim 9 training has helped that!

Thinking of a break over Xmas/new year after the B9...

I'd lost track a bit due to not logging a fair few rides on Strava but after totalling the distance up this morning I found I've completed my goal and am now on 15,390 kms for the year. My distance challenge was 15,000. Hooray:)

Nice work. :) I'm almost at 16,000km for the year.

Edit: 16,006km done, 562km for the week.

I have read through several pages of this now combined forum.
For the active 6000k riders I only see 3 ? Chriso_29er; 1 Rowdy1 & myself.

I expect due to the more active posts of riders above 6K intimidation is the problem, riders not making it have fallen away, rather than getting encouragement from fellow 6Kers.

The 6K forum was a very active & competitive forum when formed, I ask the mods to re-instate the forum as it once was to encourage the older & newer riders to have something to strive for.

The problem is having too many posts pinned to the top of forum pages. Maybe it's a better idea to not have any topics pinned at all.

I note your sentiments Mustang and to a large extent agree. I always considered being in the 6000k group even though for the last 4 or 5 years strived for a bit more but never considered myself achieving or aiming for the 10000 Club. So where does that me and others in a similar situation. Still consider myself as a 6ker

I think that the entry level should be 5,200km. 100km/wk is an approachable number. It can be acheived by having a life on weekends and commuting regularly, or by doing the odd commute and getting in a nice bunch ride or two on the weekend. It was certainly what I aimed for at first. (I did it with an average of about 50km commuting and 50km racing on weekends).

I did have 13,000km as a bit of a stretch target this year. After a couple of hiatuses (hiata? i don't know, gimme a martinus) i had mentally shifted that back to 10,0000 but I suspect I will fall short of that too. However on the plus side, my 8yo son is doing more riding, so I might be able to do some more weekend rides with him on the tandem next year. If all goes well we might do some 'event' rides. We've already worked out that we can do 50km pretty easily together, now all we need to do is string in some hills.

Cheers,

Cameron

It's a great shame to me that anyone feels intimidated by the fact that I'm fortunate to have the time to ride over 15,000 km a year as intimidation would be the very last thing that entered my mind when I signed up for that distance at the start of the year.

I'm with you hergest. You're only competing with yourself. We're all good for an encouragement or two here.

You're pretty close to 15k though. :)

It's unfortunate that people are put off by the big kms. I commute a lot, everyday and do a couple of big rides on the weekend, that is how I got those kms. what matters is that you are out on your bike. Not the distance.

That's unkind. You must have missed all of my post(singular) in the centuries thread.
