101 Birthday Challenge

This challenge is an easy one for most cyclists but something that you could get family and friends into.

101 Birthday Challenge is to run or walk the number of kilometres during a 7 day period including your birthday when added to your age adds up to 101. If you are turning 40 then you will walk 61 kilometres during the 7 day period.

Like to ride your bike? Then accept the 101 Birthday Cycle Challenge. You need to ride on one day the required number of kilometres when added to your age on your birthday to 101. This must be completed within 7 days of your birthday.

Prefer to swim? Then take the Swimming challenge. For each year below 101 swim 100 metres. If you are turning 40 then swim 6100 metres.

The use of treadmills and indoor cycle trainers are allowed.

Good luck.

I do think most people here can bang out 101 km for their birthday.

I like the idea - maybe for my next birthday we could have a 101km birthday party; no more sitting about only eating cake etc.... come ready to go for a walk, or ride, 10.1kms each with groups of 10 (or larger for the old / young / or less mobile)

Don't want to do it or can't then make a donation to either your favourite charity (or mine) - $1 per km - then come and eat cake / have lunch.... or the other way about.

It might just help us to think of activity as normal - and help some others who need some help.

Perhaps not as challenging as it should be. My regular morning ride isn't too far short of the mark, for example, and this Monday's ride alone surpassed it.

And I'm not a long distance rider by any stretch of the imagination! :O

More of a challenge for those people who consider a gentle roll along the Esplanade or local bike path is a good ride.

If you do it or challenge your friends share the image.

So... if you're 101, you can sit on your ass, drink piss and eat pies then!
