I've been looking for book suggestions after reading a couple of (bicycle related) books, unable to find suggestions, starting this thread.

Anyway, you should read some of the books by Tim Moore about his cycling trips - he's done the Tdf and rode the route of the first Giro on a bike from the 1910s, his most recent is a ride that follows the border of the old iron curtain through central/eastern Europe. Interesting and often amusing.
I also enjoyed some of the books about the doping in the peloton in recent years: the pick is Tyler Hamilton's, but David Millar's is also decent as are some of the more generic books about that period by the likes of David Walsh.
Graeme Obree's autobiography is fantastic - a really fascinating, troubled guy who took on the entire cycling world and, for a while at least, won.

I have been travelling in France for the last few weeks to do some riding and see some of Le Tour. Started an appropriate book on the flight over - Slaying the Badger: LeMond, Hinault and the Greatest Ever Tour de France by Richard Moore.
When I finished that I continued in the same vein with Laurant Fignon's autobiography titled We Were Young and Carefree.
Both are great books.
