Information on a bike

Postby Sportslife » Fri Oct 05, 2018 11:44 pm

Can anyone give me information on the Sportlife 10 speed road bike? Currently restoring one I got for free.

You'll need to pop up a link to some photos to be sure but my initial feeling is it's probably a cheap store branded bike like Sportsworld.

Never ever heard of Sportlife and have been refurbishing bikes of that ilk since the mid-late 70s. A few good pics would help immensely. Pics of the rear drop outs, bb shell, lugs and drivetrain as well as the whole bike would be good but I'd be thinking that ldr has it exactly right

I've never seen one either, but there is one on gumtree at the moment.

Unfortunately (based on the photo and if you were interested that it may be collectable), it is nothing special or valuable.

Still could be tuned up and ridden with joy but in my book I think it would be a struggle to value it much higher than $50.

Yeah, I was going to say much the same thing, looks like an entry level bike of the era.

It can be fun to get them up and running and ride them, but there's no money to be made. You can spend quite a few hours cleaning, fixing and tuning them, and a few more trying to sell, and you'll end up at maybe a couple of dollars per hour of your time. That's the reason most go to hard rubbish.

BTW. Somehow I suspect that we've got a one post wonder here in the OP.

From a facebook enquiry, I recommended that the person post in the forum.
