Bike discount shipping to australia
Postby Charliemasovic » Wed Nov 28, 2018 7:55 pm
Hi I was looking on line for a new bike and find a German site called bike-discount.de but It said it doesn't ship to australia. Can anyone tell me if this is true and if there is any way around it. Thanks in advance

They do ship to Australia (I put an order with them last night), but maybe not whole bikes, or particular brands.
Some brands put a geo lock on their products and retailers can't sell them overseas.

I've also purchased from them, good service. Also not a complete bike though. I seem to recall not being sure if they sent to Oz, might have emailed first.

There are certain brands that they don't send to Australia. They regularly have amazing sales on Cube, but refuse to send it out here. I've looked at mail forwarders but that means you cop 17%vat on-top of the purchase price and then expensive shipping and handle. I tried taking to be friends in Germany and eastern Europe and the private freight quotes they got for bike boxes shipped to Australia were astronomical so I couldn't figure out a way to make it work.

I checked their site again out of curiosity. Clear freight policy now. They might be able to suggest a solution. Perhaps a freight carrier to collect from them.Charliemasovic wrote:OK thanks I will try to contact them

I used them recently and found even with $25 postage they were far cheaper than UK sites. I picked up a set of custom built DT Swiss rims on M8000 hubs with double butted spokes for about $230. Schwalbe tyres were quite a bit cheaper and Shimano disc brakes sets as well, I figured I'd get as much as possible to justify the postage cost
