Wahoo Kickr

Postby nealjp » Thu Dec 13, 2018 4:04 pm

Hi,
There was a well know issue with Wahoo Kickr's spindown fails and lockups. Especially the earlier models. They no longer stock/sell the hardware (topcaps), and they've updated the firmware (so the old hardware is now incompatible). This turns a $1500 trainer into a very expensive anchor. This earlier tech is now considered 'obsolete' and the spare parts are no longer available.

If you've had a similar experience please post here or PM me.

Thanks,
Neal

I own a 2014 KickrV1 using F/W 1.4.47 (still using the strain gauge) and it is still motoring along after I've done >15,000Km on it - Zwift, Rouvy, FulGaz, VirtuGo and RGT all work fine with it.. It was a shop demo before I purchased, so dunno how much use it received. It is consistently within 2-3% of my power meters - have tested it against three PMs, so no complaint here.

I'm not sure how yours is now a boat anchor??? Which F/W are you using?

PS - for spares - get directly onto Wahoo US via their website. The Aust distributor isn't overly helpful, at times, with replacement parts...
