That was a very enjoyable morning, thanks all for the ride. I hope Claire managed to make the last few kms home without a 3rd puncture.

I've come to the conclusion that the pie shop's best pie is their signature one, it was very nice indeed, chunky and tasty. Yum yum. :D

I want to try that best pie next time. Paul, is it better than the bacon and cheese thingy?

Yep, I made it home without a 3rd puncture! Thanks to Paul for giving me a tube after the second puncture and to David, the human tyre lever :)
I always seem to go the steak and mushroom pie, will have to try the signature one next time.

Thanks for the ride everyone, and have a good Christmas and New Year.

Hmmm... felt a special 'connection' with this one
Well, no, it's not a pushbike, otherwise I'd be pushing it...

Wishing Sydney RR all the best for the coming riding year 2015. Looking forward to riding with the retro mob soon and sharing the passion.

Cheers

Rheicel, Hergest and I, at least, are heading to Katoomba on the 31st. You can join us for part of it, at least, or do the whole 200 we plan on.

I am not sure that a ride to Katoomba would count as easing Minhy back into riding. I would love to join you for the whole 200k, but it doesn't look good for a whole day leave pass.

Which way are you planning to head to Penrith ?

I think Rheicel wanted to go along the M4 then across, which suits me fine since we'll be leaving quite early to meet the rest of the gang at Penrith at a reasonable time. The ride from Penrith to Richmond is quite flat and easy. We turn off to go to Springwood, but heading to Richmond station is an option.

Do the 200, Bruce. You'll be a better person if you do it, which I'm sure your wife will appreciate.

So have we decided in anywhere yet? Guildford Paul, do you know your way around the Western Sydney Parklands? We can do a loop through the Prospect path, into the parklands and then to Orphan creek path to Fairfield.

Weekend Retro rides_Sydney(updates)

Postby isabella24 » Sun Jan 25, 2015 5:09 pm

There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding rides in both the Retro and the Sydney rides thread so I'm going to post this in both.

Ok, if I'm not mistaken, it appears that there is already a ride on Saturday 31st which involves meeting at Penrith Station at 6am-ish (I think the train gets in at 6:05am) and going to Leura.

I believe that people who have showed interest were:

RIDE 1 - LEURA 6am Penrith Station
Saturday 31st Jan: BFV, Rheicel, Hergest

Please correct the above as you see fit.

Others can complete a shorter version of this ride if they want, by riding to Richmond Station and getting the train/riding home or simply getting the train further up the mountains to meet the group later and enjoy the downhill.

In light of this, perhaps we run a Western Sydney Parklands Ride another day to ease Minh back into things? Alternatively, we can split the group and run this ride on the same day as the Leura ride if enough people are interested.

RIDE 2 - WESTERN SYDNEY PARKLANDS time and meeting point to be determined.
Saturday 31st Jan:

Sunday 1st Feb:

Saturday 7th Feb:

Sunday 8th Feb:

So please, put your names down and cast your vote! :D

Quang, i can sort of get myself around the Lizard Log area and up to (or down from ) the cycleway that follows the canal. There's nowhere to go very off course so a Prospect Path/Orphan Creek/Fairfield loop would be a nice easy flattish one. I can't do the 31st but i can do as below;

Sunday 1st; Hergest, find_bruce, Minh, QV

Saturday 7th; Hergest

Sunday 8th; Hergest

I'm still good for the 1st, but I start work at 12 in the city so that would mean I'd have to wrap up by say 10-10:30

Chatting with Quang we're going to do roughly this nice easy run on Sunday, Minh you should have no problem getting back in time.

Meet at the wooden bridge over the railway 1 km south of Guildford train station at 7-30.
