With M4 breakdown / cycle lane effectively closed for the foreseeable future can anyone provide a detailed (and relatively safe) alternative route to get to and from bottom of Lapstone Hill from Kings Langley?

Westbound: https://www.strava.com/routes/12166380
^^I'm doing this in peak hour so I don't like to use the GWH west of Minchinbury as there is no shoulder. Crossing Northern Rd is dodgy, but the best option I can make.
Eastbound: https://www.strava.com/routes/12166386
^^Coming in via Penrith is flatter than Glenmore/Orchard Hills. I normally do this route mid-morning so I'm happier to sit on the shoulder of the GWH.
Happy hunting.

Whenever I do M7 to Penrith and back I avoid all the GWH and main roads with this back route.

Many thanks for these suggestions. I'll check them out. Been too long since I rode in the mountains.

Wow, that is excellent! That will make for some good riding. Not right now, but hopefully by summer.

Having been essentially off the bike for over a year due to a couple of ops I'm looking to start building up base miles again. Gt Western Hwy up into Blue Mountains from Lapstone used to be my go to training ride. I'm based Kings Langley and guessing the F4 hard shoulder out to Lapstone is still a no go area even after all these years. Any suggestions for relatively easy to follow route out there from KL?
