Sydney's inner-city cycling routes could be finished, but not until 2030

Not holding my breath. Now for the rest of Sydney;

"Inner-city residents are overwhelmingly in favour of cycleways to be delivered more quickly, the City of Sydney says, as the council forges ahead with its plan to connect most of the city's bike network by 2030.

Construction on missing links in Sydney's chain of cycling routes, which allow cyclists to cross the city from north to south and east to west without mixing with traffic, will begin within weeks."

But while they finish the missing links, what is to stop existing already built cycleways being ripped up in favour of an extra lane on the road or car parking?
