As I ride the additional weight on the spokes with the reflectors causes a subtle vibration which gives me headaches, terrible headaches, and I start to believe that the Headless Cyclist is chasing me on his demonic Melbourne Bike Share bike. This makes me ride through red lights and on footpaths which is clearly dangerous to me, so therefore it is important that I not have reflectors on my wheelspokes.
Bloody hell

Hijacking a thread, particularly one the mods have washed their hands of, is so much better!

This is not a discussion on the quality of these bicycles rather it is that this thread has been populated by spam comments. Sure they may or may not be genuine customers however the approach is considered spam - normal (real) customers don't do do this. And if they did, then then it would be the same for all retailers.

A well known Sydney based entry level retailer with their own brand also tried this a few years back and mysteriously stopped when it was pointed out.

I wouldn't judge the forum members here as all riding top dollar bikes, some do, some are entry level riders - each to their own. Your feedback as a retailer is welcome. To give you the benefit of the doubt, I would keep a track on customers who may they may be doing you a favour, you can see by this thread that it works against you. The most cases I know where it back fires on a company is when comments are manipulated.

Followup.

I have discussed directly with James and one of the forum Members / Mods visited Reid Cycles.
While I agree that the customer replies here are unusual, I have been assured that Reid Cycles has not prompted the customers to contribute.

I feel that it important that the reputation of a retailer / brand is not affected by speculation so would request that we start afresh and new comments / questions are asked in a new thread. This thread will remain as a reference, inparticular so that new readers know the outcome.

In the future we hope to have a closer look at Reid Cycles bikes and review them for BNA.

Nope
- maybe
I need some gear to sell a part-completed project, if these things are between 2c and 2 shillings I could at least get a front wheel out of it

Reid bicycle Spotting

I saw my first Reid bikle on the ATB near St Kilda. It was red. I tried to talk to the rider but there was too many other bikes around. Anyone else seen one on the road? It was a bike and it was being ridden, not much more needs to be said.

i've seen heaps - they're everywhere. they just look like entry level bikes. they're only remarkable for the artificial controversy generated on this forum.

Our forum mod Mulger Bill has put in some extra effort and done a review. As you would expect, we won't see one in the Peloton however that is not the audience. You can read the Reid Aquila review on BNA

Showing some lack of knowledge of the bike business. Reflectors on wheels are a legal requirement at point of sale.

Does the law require that wheels be round or is that just a widely-observed convention?

I bought a Condor 6 months ago.
Great entry level bike, and like so many other posts James is a pleasure to deal with. No BS approach.
I spend a lot of time with the Condor on a Hydro Gel trainer. No problems with many pretty quick long sessions.
I also recently completed the Around the Bay ride. Easy stuff on the Condor, even over the Westgate bridge.
The only things I've done was to put some decent metal pedals on with toe clips, a good gel saddle, and a Sigma computer reading off the back wheel.
Like so many others, this was an entry level back into cycling for my 59 year old bones.
I am so pleased with my experince with the Condor and Reid Cycles, and will look at the Falco when it arrives with the good Shimano 105 gear onboard.

Frankly, its probably improved it.

Freud would suggest that there is nothing wrong with a healthy amount of narcissim, infact Freud would suggest that its essential to development, what you consider healthy is probably, and in my mind, different to what I consider healthy. It is merely a personality trait, either deal with it or move on. I am hardly the greek youth who saw his refection for the first time.

My first bike was a Reid Falco, since then I've owned a Cannondale CAAD 4 (after the Falco got stolen), and now a Cannondale Supersix. I must say I definitely preferred the frame on the 10 year old CAAD 4 compliance wise, although I'm guessing the Falco was stiffer, and obviously shifted better being brand new and all.

I must say that James Reids service was a lot better than any other store I've been to. You get way more bike for the money than anywhere else I've tried, and James is DEFINITELY interested in saving you money. He gave me some pedals at cost price with my bike, and was pestering me to take some free lights even though I didn't need them, that was pretty cool I thought.

I wouldn't have a problem buying another Falco, they really are decent bikes, regardless of price, and they are the best value for money bikes I've seen in Australia.

its funny how when i was trying to create an account and i failed to answer the answer because i added special character '!'

Anyway~
Man! I was really keen on getting this bike until i see all these controversy. Now im lost and i do not know what to do. I have 3hrs left before the auction which i was bidding on ends. - CAAD3 8spd Ultegra or so he says for $400 (its 13yrs old)

Then this beautiful cheap road bike (Yes, with !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! component - good enough to get by) pops up.

I need advise ppl.

ps, absolutely no affiliation with that reid guy, just a regular dude who has been extremely down on luck... cashed my friend's car, $700 repair fee folo by burst my tyres and im sick of that !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! bike then lost an good bargain on full 105grpset with decent frame...

Based on Mulger Bill's review there's nothing particularly wrong with the Reid bikes. I wouldn't pay more than about $50 for any bike that's 13yo - if that. Frame could be cracked, drive train worn out etc... meaning big $ to fix it.
