Bakery and sausage rolls!

Unlikely I'll be around - chance of Amy and I going on a ride to the GC (possibly return, depending on how she feels), but I don't really feel I can disappear off on my own again...

Racing for me that day but I might be able to cut across and meet at Dayboro depending on your timing.

It'll take all day too I think. More than happy to have people join for part or all. Starting at coot-Tha is the plan so be easy enough for someone to do coot-Tha nebo glorious then head home

I am assuming your counting Coot-tha, Nebo, Glorious & Mee, but which is the 5th peak? Goat track?

a mate of mine did it a couple of years ago with mount gravatt instead. but that's crossing town for no reason I reckon

i haven't worked out how long it'd take, but by 1pm sounds freakish

Not the full route due to a few factors
Possible rest/food stop at Samford.
Where to turn around on Mt Mee ie top of the climb where Ocean View Road meets again or continuing the extra 15km/600m of climbing to the Mt Mee lookout.
What way to return to the city from Clear Mountain? Via Samford/via Bunya/via Settlement Road/Via Old Northern Road, South Pine Road.

the ride has a clockwise coot-tha. there's enough climbing that day that'd it still count. but considering an early start maybe an anti-clockwise (i.e. climb the back) loop will be easier meaning you can "rest the brakes" on the descent

I chose the front to avoid back tracking. I assume people here know how to ride bikes without riding the brakes. If your worried about going down the backside of Coottha wait till you start descending from the top of Mt Glorious :P :P http://www.strava.com/segments/4423890" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If it was me this is the route I'd go. http://www.strava.com/routes/830120" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Adds a few more meters and the run back from Clear Mountain is quick/direct and there are bike lanes for a good portion of the run/2 to 4 lanes of traffic. Start in the city. Catch up point 1 at the roundabout on Coottha. Catch up point 2 at the Cafe on Mt Nebo/Water stop 1 at the School. Catchup point 3/snack stop 1 at the Cafe on Mt Glorious. Water stop 2 at the park when getting off Mt Glorious Road on the way to Samford. Food stop 1/water stop 3 at the Dayboro bakery. Catch up point 4 at Ocean View Road. Water stop 4 at the school near the Mt Mee lookout. Water stop 5 at Dayboro. Catch up point 5 at the top of Clear Mountain after the 20% climb. Not too sure about water stops on the way back after Clear Mountain to the Enoggera Bikeway. Final stop would be at Southbank where we could get some lunch or something if people have the time/want to. Adds a few extra km for those wanting to crack 200km for the day.

Tempting to try and find a way to do this. Will have to let you know next week. Got the option of really tiny gears now (28t cassette sitting in a box at home) to make Clear Mountain a little easier on tired legs. Hmm.

Indeed, got the gear but no need for 34/28 for general use. Special occasions only!

(Cheers for the offer though JC).

Every ride warrants a 28 tooth cassette. :)

I don't have a LBS relationship. my mechanic is an idiot and is crap and slow.

yours would probably do it for free geoff

Undoubtedly. :) But I generally do most of the servicing myself. BB bearings I'm a bit gun shy about as the idea of messing up the press fit and cracking the frame doesn't appeal, but other than that I'm fairly self sufficient. However I like having a good relationship with my LBS, they are extremely helpful and look after me well.

If your mechanic is bad, look elsewhere. Plenty to choose from.

Yep.
If you haven't got a 28 (or more) on board, you're obviously not riding steep enough hills!! :twisted:
