Well folks, I got home last night so a Friday Fast Bunch Ride was required this morning. :) With the Flu bug still not totally gone from my system it was still better than expected average speed even though I was like the coughing hacking smoker of the small group of us. The head feels like it wants to explode now though. :(

Another ride done and dusted, with the hurt factory lifted after everyone disappeared from the Coffee Shop. I can always count on a couple of the fit blokes to inflict pain for the last 25klms.

Gee Foo, you're pumping out some km now. Wifey and I snuck out for a quick loop on sunday as well, little bit breezy but a beautiful day for a ride in the sun. Our Beachmere magpies are getting a bit snappy lately too so be warned if you ride down Campbell Parade or Christen Drive that you'll have to duck your head a bit.

Thanks Paddles I will remember that.;)

I've lost three weekends worth of rides due to rain and the Flu, so I am playing catch up.

If that was you gents I saw along Campbell Parade then that was us. The munchkin rides her first 10km with us and then stops in at grandma's place while we go another 20 before grabbing her to do another 10km to get home again. I have dropped her back to 20km as she reckoned 30km made her legs tired (she made me feel guilty thinking that her legs were sore for days after a ride but then she let it out of the bag that they only got tired whilst she was riding which is to be expected), still it's not to bad going for an 8yo girl.

Nice effort from the little one. What sort of bike is she riding?

Then we passed again on Peel on the hill that leeds up to the Hi-way. I was the last bloke trying to drag my sorry arse up to them.

At that stage the wife wasn't getting into it so she cut it short and turned for home early while I did a couple of loops around Fauna Way/Cocos Drive and Bribie Road and then caught up to her on the way back. Olivia rides a little 650C Avanti Prima, she's been riding it for about 18 months now and I'm slowly stretching her out on it, I've had her riding a small 26inch mountain bike for the last few years (since grade 1) and started out by trying to make her road bike riding position similar to her mountain bike to make her more comfortable and confident before stretching her out into a more road oriented riding position. The other day she actually suggested she might like to ride with other kids in a cycling club so that might be next I reckon, we don't know any other families with kids who are keen on recreational road cycling or even just kids whose parents would buy them a road bike and then we would take them riding.

Thanx Ryan. She's been brought up around both myself and my wife riding bikes recreationally and luckily for us she enjoys it so we all get to ride as a family. It started as 10-20km bike path rides and now we've hit the road again after 20 years of not road cycling, hopefully she'll learn some road sense from it.

They are nice but they do cut up easily like most Conti tyres. What width are you running?

They are 23s, SSS but from the looks of them, they bag out a little more than the Hutchy Fusions. One of the blokes here is getting 4000klms plus from them on our roads. I got 5000klms from the Hutchies but I had them tucked away for 18 mths. ;)

Without fail the wind blows up.

The changes to my position seems to be for the good and I'm getting the power down a little better and from more around the thigh/hip area. :D No big hit out as todays ride is just a spin ride, so the learners/slower riders can enjoy the outing. :)

Supposed to be swinging round to a southerly sometime late tomorrow morning. So you might have an hour or two of calm conditions in between :) .

A nice morning, even though a breezy one for the ride. The mornings are warming up, so won't be long before they reach 28-30c by 8am.
