Great Brisbane Bike Ride

Postby myforwik » Fri Apr 14, 2017 10:49 pm

I'm doing this ride for the first time this year.

I was wondering what is the traffic like on this ride? Seems the route is very convoluted compared to Brisbane to gold coast.

A lot of parts are on bike ways not the road? Does this event get less people than the Brisbane to gold coast?

Also what happened with the ferry last year? Apparently this year its exclusive to cyclists, but only 65 can cross at a time. I wonder how much delay that will be?

I did the 75 last year. The route does take in a little traffic in the last third; going back through Oxley/Chelmer Tennyson and Highgate Hill, but the roads are all standard bike routes really, and the ride was very well organised. The first 2/3rds were just great, with often whole lanes being marked off for the ride.

The ferry has been booked for the sole use of bikes this year.. So i'm looking forward to doing the 100 k-er.
I've never ridden out to the ferry before, but am told it is fine.
