Hi,

I'm looking to improve my climbing ability over the winter to prepare myself for racing in the summer. I'm just wondering if anybody has some good training hills for short intervals (2-4 minutes) around Coorparoo (south/south-east brisbane). I've tried Mt. Gravatt mountain which I have found to be quite good however I am just wondering if there are any other shorter hills for some more variety.

Mt Gravatt is the better close one. You could also go to Mt Cootha, not that far away or for short sharp ones by Wynnum there is prospect St and all beside it.

Personally I'd avoid Mt Cotton due to the trucks.

Perhaps:
TJ Doyle Memorial Drive in Dutton Park, followed by Gladstone Rd
Hoogley/Ganges/Dornoch Tce in West End
Sankey St in West End
Chatsworth Rd in Coorparoo
Mt Petrie Rd in Belmont - apart from the trucks

Nothing beats the ride to Mt Glorious either on Mt Nebo Rd or the Goat Track for hill training. But that's more than "2-4 minutes"

True. But those bigger hills are good for repeat 2-4 minute efforts.

cavendish road, starting from old Cleveland road intersection heading up towards chatsworth road.

Also back streets behind Loretto college area have good hills eg lade st and abbotsleigh street.
