At this stage I might be a bit too catatonic to care much at the committee meeting. Planning another Toodyay 200 Friday evening. Hopefully not as drawn out as the last a couple of weeks back.
Hit me up via the BNA dm; I'll get an alert. If y'know, you know.

Or you could just go do something with Bikeweek?

The bikes were going for craaaazy amounts... Huffy's in very poor condition, cheap at nearly $200... Diamondbacks for 300 to 500. Some cheap bikes ( $80-ish ), but many were in poor condition - you could do a run around on council cleanup days and pick up for free most of what was going at the auction for around $200.just4tehhalibut wrote:Another auction this Saturday 14th March in Welshpool. Over a hundred bikes, half of them BSOs and some darn ugly, but there are some good road and MTBs there plus a Giant Halfway folder and a Specialized electric assist bike with wire basket. Lot 52, I didn't know that Ripcurl was a bike brand.

Actually, I think you will probably find most of what was sold today being included in the next council cleanup.....

An auctioneer friend is always amazed at the frenzy some people get caught up in at auctions, especially on weekend auctionscj7hawk wrote:

There's a white trimmed Pinarello FP2 up for auction this Saturday 02 April. Lot 24, which unfortunately makes it the first bike to come up for bidding too.
There's a Dahon (lot 46) folder, an electric Sunrunner folder (lot 119) but the rest of these 120 bikes are mainly humdrum MTBs and hybrids.

Is there bargains to be had or is it fairly competitive and you end up paying second hand market prices ?

Highest bidder wins, no reserves. And you might be paying a premium second hand price as well, as people tend to inflate the prices to try and drain "competition" of their moneyrusty842 wrote:Out of curiosity are these highest bidder wins or do they have a reserve ?

Being a Saturday you will get a lot of people that don't go to auctions regulary and get caught up in biding (have seen bids above retail ). As long as you set a limit and the lot is not a hot favourite you can still have a win. And just remember to apply the buyers premium when setting your limit.rusty842 wrote:

If you have nothing on it can be good for a laugh to see what people bid

Lot 83 was stolen from the carpark at work. I've let the owner know, he was keen to follow it up!
