Any Rockingham group rides?
Postby Pain Train » Thu Jun 03, 2010 4:24 pm
Hi, I've just recently shifted house and moved to the country town of Rockingham . I've had a couple of months off the bike, so It's time to clear out the cob webs; can anyone tell me whether there are any regular bunch rides departing from Rocko?
Thanks
Thanks

Ride starts and finishes from Tropicana Cafe now.
Tropicana Cafe 180 High St Fremantle, for muffins and coffee
A few people come up from Rockingham for the ride each week.

Thanks for the reply Steve. Yeah I'm getting the feeling I'll have to ride the 30km~ up to Freo for a bunch ride.

Try KD Cycles in Rockingham or the Peel Districts Cycling Club

The club does road, crit and TT races so there should be someone around who you can link up with for training.

Hi
I believe there is a ride out of Bike Force Success (676 Beeliar Drive, Beeliar) which would be closer to you than the Freo Wheelers ride.

Welcome to Rockingham Pain Train. Its a pretty good place to live but don't tell anyone. Their are a few group rides & bunch rides that leave from Rockingham, depending at what level you are at. KD cycles have a bunch ride on Sat morning, they meet at KD's, not sure what time, you could phone them to get the time. I think it is early. I ride with another group on a Saturday morning we meet opposite Rockingham City, near the under pass on Read Rd at 7 am, we then ride to Freo. Peel/Rockingham Cycling Club have a social group that ride on a Sunday morning & Wed morning meeting at the masonic hall 8am for the fast riders & 8-30 for slow riders. Then their are some other rides during the week, one on a Tuesday morning, They go up the freeway meeting on Safety Bay road opposite the Avenue & another ride on Thursday morning I think they meet at Mundijong. Feel free to contact me if you need more info.

Thanks for the replies all; excellent helpful info Huff&Puff. It's great to find out that Rockingham's not the barren cycling wilderness I imagined. I'm only a block away from KD Cycles, haven't had a chance to check them out yet though. A few more painful sessions on the trainer and I'll hopefully have the legs to hang on to one of the bunches.
Cheers

But regularly see another bunch at the Tea and Coffee Merchant on Rockingham Beach Road, bikes against concrete wall, riders enjoying coffee plus more on tables above (it is rockingham you need to keep you eyes on your bike)
