Its also on Winthrop Ave too and I coined it the Kings Park Freezer this morning. Feels around 5 degrees cooler near the new hospital compared to down near UWA or at the top near Kings Park Rd.

April - the best month of weather for cycling in perth?

Cool mornings, warm in the sun.

I think it's up there, if not the best, definitely makes the top three. Not sure which other months would round out the podium.

Ambrosial today, no? Took a run down the beach to run errands in Freo, was planning on training it back to do housework, kept going instead.

3.2 with an apparent temperature of 0.5 when I left home this morning.
Did relent and wera a singlet under my short sleeved top - couldn't feel hands though,
Time to dig out the winter gear.

I didn't realise how numb my toes were until I pulled off my shoes after the ride and wondered why I was having problems lining up the gap between my big & 2nd toes when putting my thongs on.

Otherwise managed the temp OK enough; having felt it coming last night.

3.1 at home (Hammond park) and weather app said 2 at Jandakot. Not much warmer in the city, I went for full coverage (shoe covers, long pants, long sleeve Jersey plus gore tex jacket, full gloves and a skull cap. Had to partially unzip the jacket to just below the neck and arrived at work warm with a light sweat on, perfect

1.8 degrees through Jandakot, not the ideal condition to return to riding after a brief stint of man-flu.
Thats 2 days in a row of public transport, ergh.

my friend's garmin said 1.5 in King's Park this morning.

So cold I even busted out the 3/4 knicks.

If I could have a do-over I probably would have included gloves and a long sleeve jersey instead of just a short sleeve one/no gloves, but it was 5 degrees according to my phone when I left Bayswater, had no idea it would get that much colder.

T-shirt, fleece & shower jacket; 3/4 bib shorts, long-fingered gloves, thermal socks and toe covers - all of that felt just about perfect. Okay, it took 30 minutes to regain feeling in my toes when I got to work but I love cycling in this weather, once the sun comes up / I generate a bit of warmth.

PS Curious thing with my Garmin Edge 500. It must have been about 4C when I left home and it was reading 11C. I have noticed it is particularly inaccurate (too high) at low temperatures all the time. It does take 20 minutes to adjust when I take it outside but I left it on the bike overnight so that is not the issue. It is not the end of the world by any means, and a quick Google tells me it is a common complaint.

Skipped two days of riding to work cos the sleep-in was too tempting... Really have to get back onto it and not let the cold weather deter me.

Surprised no one has mentioned the awesome setting of the full moon at 6.30am-7am over Rotto over the past few days.

What is 6.30am?

I rode in this morning but I was running late. It was relatively warm at quarter to 9. I wore my layers and was sweating before the half way point.

I got a surprise going through the South Beach carpark, the water was up to my hubs and I was riding on the raised path, not the road. Bad day to forget to bring the saddle cover for the Brooks leather saddle, went shopping so that I could get a plastic shopping bag. Then further up the road, at the top of the hill along Spearwood Ave between the crests it was flooded again. On top of the hill. About 10am a heavy rain had come through Freo towards Jandakot and dropped over 30mm in the hour, overwhelming drainage as it went. So, an interesting time to be out riding.

At least the paths were clear of sunday walkers and riders.

I went for a quick ride early on today. Was trying to find an excuse to not test out my new wet weather gear. And had to go food shopping the handbrake said

Went out yesterday (Sunday) morning.
About 300m of path under water around by the old Burswood golf course - didn't even think about things and just about drowned going under the Causeway - about 18inches of water.
Felt sorry for the organisers of the Million Paws Walk - things looked bleak.
Made it home alright but didn't realise how much more work it is riding through surface water - knackered.
Hot shower & then out to kids footy - just to get soaked again.

I slacked off riding this morning for no other reason than being slack. The weather was fine too. :( #lazybum

Very windy and cold today - went down the steepest hill I've found and I would be lying if I didn't say I regretted it as soon as I entered it. Anyway, then found a section where it was flat, but very very blowy on top of the hills. I was on full boost (AT) 200w, standing on the pedals ( front gear on smallest ring ) and still struggling at about 6kph.... I didn't think it was that windy !. Then I turned around and on the same flat section, hit 44 kph without pedaling - Too windy - I guess some days it's just not suitable to go riding :( Was a nice blue sky too.

yesterday was magical indeed, this morning was nearly as good, just a few added clouds to spoil it. Minimal winds are yum
