I can definitely feel the change since spring with riding in the mornings ~6.30am. Apart from being lighter, the sun takes that very cold edge off. Then in the evenings ~5pm riding back its usually around 15 give or take which is nice too.

Seems really windy lately though! Not so much this morning however

Who else is enjoying the breezy days we've been having?

I did most days since Tuesday riding the Holland Track from Hyden to Kalgoorlie. Most days it was a semi-tail wind, but now and then it was a side wind and today because of a navigational error a short head-wind (not nice). The rest of today's ride into Kalgoorlie was fun but with the tail wind :)

Beautiful day Sunday. I even cracked out some finger-less gloves.
Surprisingly, I hardly saw another soul.

I'm down to wearing a short sleeved jersey with arm warmers in the mornings, and fingerless gloves, then no need for the arm warmers on the ride home. Beautiful.

This morning was perfect. Little to no wind.

My "computer hands" still feel the cold, so still rocking light weight full finger gloves early in the morning.

Yeah definitely the time of year to be up and at'em nice and early to avoid the sun. I had a skin cancer removed early this year, so certianly something that's prevalent in my mind at the moment.

Highly recommend to everyone that they go and get a skin check. My surgery bulk billed so no expense, pm for the surgery dets if needed.

I woke to this, first day of "summer".

Also got a sweet video clip of a jet fighter after burning in front of the Swanbourne barracks/firing range.

Got out for a coast ride, rendezvous for lunch/coffee with wife, put my minivelo in the back of her mum's larger wagon, picked up xmas pressy for my boy (sweet new bike of course ;) She went to the op-shop next door, I went back in to the bike shop, got n.o.s. Aussie made Velocity Deep V 650c rear wheel on clearance, valve extenders, wife came in and paid for me  She got a haul of "cool" stuff from the op shop, much cheaper than bike parts! Happy marriage quality time, we've booked it in for next week, cheaper than marriage counselling

Is it just me or has the rain brought out numbskull behaviour in the cage operators? I've had three SMIDSY in the last two days!

I was wondering about this thread lately. I usually don't pay too close notice, but I don't recall having this much rain in summer like this past few weeks (since Lunar new year).
Reticulation off like it's winter. The calm winds and heavy rain from the north usually only a thunderstorm for a day, not several days like we've had, and not such sustained volume.

Meanwhile each time people on east coast are talking about the heat and surviving heat stroke, and at least one death from heat stroke I read (cyclist, or quad bike rider iirc).

Often it's us with usual summer heat and some parts of the east with flooding.

I love it though as it keeps everyone else away :D Make hay while the sun does not shine.

first single digit degree commute into work this morning for the year, a crisp morning but the lack of winds made for a beeyyootiful ride in!

Secret is to keep your bike inside with you to roll out not look back... but then you may be living in the shed ;)

Don't want to jinx anything but the month of April was pretty amazing cycling weather.

Considering taking the whole month off next year to take advantage of it.

I didn't get rained on much this morning, but Canning river level was the highest I've seen it. The path under canning bridge was about 10cm underwater.

Be very careful. I went under there on the eastern side about 2 years ago when it was flooded and a large brick was fully submerged and I hit it dead-on.
Somehow managed to not crash.

Two punctures on the way in this morning for me. Fingers didn't want to work.
