Closed when I reached it at about 7.45 this morning, bunch of vehicles and guys putting the fence back up and detour signs back in place (south end) despite there being cyclists in that section travelling north to south. Clearly the path is finished, maybe some line marking to do, but why not do that at the weekend/night, rather than closing off the path at what would be it's busiest time

haha I went through at 7.40am this morning and it was open. However, the work team were driving along the path to close the southern gate off. Glad I got up 5 mins earlier!
Its clear the path isnt finished and someone cheekily opened it themselves yesterday.

I felt like Capt de Groot crashing the opening of the Harbour Bridge Monday morning. As noted by others the PSP is not ready for traffic, but not far off. An easy opportunity to ride over some surprise stairs to the water that have yet to have rails, unsealed cut sections and yet to be swept. I have become somewhat attached to the detour route and might consider keeping it for one way just for variety

From Main Roads this morning
Good morning and thank you for your interest in the Kwinana Freeway Principal Shared Path upgrade, being undertaken by Main Roads WA.

I am pleased to advise you that Stage 2, from Thelma Street to The Narrows, is scheduled to re-open by COB next Monday, 8 September. Please feel free to share this information with other members of the cycling community.

As Main Roads’ community relations consultant for this project, I would like to personally thank you for your patience while these important works were completed.

I hope you enjoy using the new and improved path.

Kind regards

Awesome run through there this morning - can't wait for it to open officially tomorrow. The bend around the Mill Point Rd entry is first class!

wise move. I think a canoe would have been more suitable along the Como beach section this morning.

The new fence should stop people getting blown into the Swan too.

Very nice. needs a sweep to get rid of the sand and seaweed that has jumped onto it in the last couple of days.

Great surface, should now stand up to all the maintenance cars travelling over it. lovely to no longer have to pick the lines to avoid the cracks.
Lots of areas still where it is clear that the river swells will rise up and onto the path, hence the flooding of Kwi Monday afternoon.
The laying of rocks and the outward lipped edge of the limestone blocks at Mill Pt Road entrance is a nice bit of engineering. Pity about the camber.
Looking forward to clear weather and the clean up of the path.
With the winds I cherish the vegetation along the nature reserve and thought of helping plant out any exposed areas. Who would we turn to to volunteer for this?
