Hi all, does anyone know if Perth has or will have a yearly bicycle show? All the latest products from manufactures, displays etc etc
Is the Melbourne bike show your best bet, or will Perth host one soon?
Thanks

Unlikely.
Like any show/festival/exhibition, it would probably cost more to run here than in the Eastern States.

To some degree Perth has it's work cut out for it acknowledging the existence of bikes. This year's oversubscribed bike to work brekky in Subi aside, pretty much any bike event I've attended over the past few years has struggled with numbers. That's not to say it isn't possible, just that it would need a massive amount of promotion (read energy and dollars) and I doubt that the rather small and isolated market here would justify it from the perspective of the major brands who would have to be on board.

We had a Specialized van drive across the Nullabor and back once a year for a few years with demo bikes and whatnot but once that Specialized-specialised store opened in the CBD we haven't seen that showpony. No other regular shows here and it's more enticing for traders here to go to a show in Taiwan than the Eastern States.

Does this count?

About this ride
This ride offers even greater value than other events because it includes a great ride, a hearty lunch AND VIP trackside seating at the Midvale SpeedDome where you can watch all the excitement of Track Cycling WA's Winter Grand Prix. There is also a cycling trade fair where you can check all the latest in bikes and riding.

The word on the street suggests there will be a cycling show at the Perth Convention Center around the 1st and 2nd of November - the week after Cape to Cape.

This looks cool. Do you need a racing license or anything to take part in the ride?IncognitoMosquito wrote:Does this count?
