Just wanted to make other cyclists aware that I found wire across the Freeway bike path between Beeliar Drive and Berrigan Drive.
I saw a boy - at a guess around 12 years old - run off the path in front of me. I assumed that he was going to do something so I took note of where he went off, however about 20-30m before I got to that point I rode srtaight through fencing wire that he had strung across the path. Fortunately I managed to stay on my bike and avoided injury, but thought it was worth bringing to other peoples attention because the next person may not be so fortunate. It was during peak commute time this morning (about 7.30am). I have notified DoT and the police.
Be safe people.

Thanks for that. This also happened several years ago, in the same area as well, the lady who first came across it wasn't as fortunate:

Thank you for sharing SouthernCommuter - I have shared on facebook and twitter.
That is pretty nasty business. How high was the wire, intended to cause bike or body damage?

I normally go through there at about that time, I'll keep a close eye out, I left Hammond Park at 7.15 this morning so can have only just missed this one. Hope they catch the bastard.

A Young boy doing that is a worry. You can't get them to go to school but they have enough ill will to try and senselessly hurt others.
Good to have at least spotted a likely suspect. I am glad you came out of it Ok.

Yargh!! Thanks for letting us know. I also hope the little sociopath gets caught, preferably by a group of angry and well-built riders ... [/nope, didn't really just advocate violence]

Wow Red Rider, that's a nasty one. The one I rode into was also the wire from the fence running between the cycle path and the freeway.
Fortunately it was at tyre height and it came free, so I might've even disturbed him before he had a chance to secure it properly.
