Mitchell PSP "roadworks" Beware

Postby CXCommuter » Mon Aug 25, 2014 3:22 pm

Another sign of contracting intelligence was observed this morning at Osborne Park (Hutton St).

The ramps and the centre island have had the concrete removed leaving wonderfully soft sand in its place on the south western side of the Freeway Overpass. If you have tyres less than ~2 inches it is very sketchy, I rolled up the gutter instead. Others walked it.

Only signs observed are those immediately over the works in progress.

Thanks for the heads-up. Yet more reasons to skip that whole mess and take the Gordon/Frobisher/Hector long-cut.

What, you didn't pick up on the non-obvious road marking, that this work was occurring today:
Image
Picture from Friday morning (markings made on Thursday afternoon), and they even used the 'blue markings' to represent the blue on the PSP signs.

This was the area Monday afternoon:

with two of the crossings being sand, and the middle one being compacted 'dirt'.

Very poor, that once again we aren't notified of these outages, and just importantly, what they are doing, as it is not just this crossing which is poor, but the 4 corners of the Hutton St crossing are in the same poor condition.

The sand areas were concreted when I went through at around 7:00am this morning, so they must have worked over night on this area.

The compacted dirt is still 'compacted dirt' but at least rideable.

There are still lip-biting gaps between the new concrete and the existing road. Hit one this evening and bite the lip as a result.

Noticed a 'Footpath closed sign' located at the 'south-east' corner (works occurring on the 'south-west'). Sign located off the path, where no-one would be able to read it, and facing the wrong direction, where no-one would be able to read it, or if you do, you are directed down the freeway 'car-only' entrance to the freeway. At least they didn't locate it on the path, where we could read it, but then couldn't get around it as the Hutton St paths are very narrow. One wonders if they have meetings before these events, instruct crews to go out and put up these signs, and this is the result.
