I note that MacAulay Park in Duncraig is featuring again. I always leave a little in the tank for when I get to that bit so I can get through faster.

This popped up on Facebook via Joondalup Cycle City's page.

Eastern side of Joondalup Lake apparently.

There were several in the sky keeping a beady eye on me all along the Mitchell PSP this morning. None attacked, but it won't be long before they start I suspect.

One of the benefits of a unicycle is that I move both arms above my head and move them round,

My first attack for the year - Heritage Trail/Coppin Rd. No blood - does it still count?

I can confirm the one Marmion Ave at Currambine is frisky and wanted give me a peck on the cheek last weekend. Haven't met the Duncraig one yet- I remember him from last season though as it is my turn off to go home

I was attacked by a Magpie in cnr Gaebler Rd with Costata gates in Hammond Park when riding towards the Kwinana PSP. I ussually ride through there 4 days a week but last tuesday was my first attack. The Magpie swooped twice but I sprinted after the first attack so it could just swoop once more. Not injure whatsoever.

Weird, I ride down the Eastern side every day and I haven't been swooped yet this season. Then again I ride on the road (Scenic Dr), rather than the bike path (too many dog walkers), so maybe the extra distance from the trees is making the difference?

I join gaebler at botany parade heading for the PSP so I'll keep an eye out for your friend, I ride that both ways about 4 times a week and haven't seen him so far, but I suspect it's the same one that has swooped my wife walking the other way towards the school

You'll be fine. From that roundabout on is safe. I am now joining Gaebler Rd there just in case :).

I can confirm the Marmion Ave one, just before Currumbine shops(going south) is still there and took two swoops at me on Saturday morning.

I also had a quite persistant one headed south on Connolly Drive last night(5.15pm), between Moore and Shenton and another double swooper(connected with my helmet) south on Candlewood, right at the roundabout with Brienz Drive.

Had a Red Wattlebird join in the fun this morning, east end of Clifton Crescent/Robinson Street. Although it doesn't get too close to the head, and I admire it's graceful flight, it is a little unnerving.

This is a photo of my small encounter by a Magpie along the Scenic Dr in Waneroo. I cycle nearly every day past here and know what and where do look out for, but it got me alright

Wow, tandem, that's nasty!

En route to a mate's place in Coobiaco, I got repeatedly menaced by a wattlebird along Farrington rd. Could feel him grabbing at my shoulder, 5 or 6 times. Persistent little scamp ...

Those wattlebirds are a nasty piece of work! There's one the resides in the bushes on the Swan River PSP at Burswood where the footbridge is to be/was across to the Casino. Had one attack me with some ferocity yesterday!

Another attack from a very persistent magpie friend starting in the cnr of Alexander Dr with Illawarra Cres (I think that's Malaga). I had to stop at the petrol station for shelter and then he stopped the attacks. He pecked about 10 times on my helmet. Luckly no blood.

Same place I got attacked last Saturday morning. Only hit the helmet, I was very happy about it, as I still had that nasty incident from Thursday in the back of my mind.

I "hedgehogged" up my old helmet with cable ties at the weekend. It is too early to say whether it is any good at deterring maggies yet, but it has been a great conversation starter with my fellow cyclists!

Yep- he is back- came in for a low strafing attack straight at me yesterday- managed to get my arm waving in sync with the attacks so made it through okay.

Got a good sorting out this morning along Hay Street, Jolimont east of Jersey Street also

I got through there okay last night but at the next little park to the north there were about 10 of them on the ground eyeing me up. Maybe the bloke with a hedgehog on his head confused them. I have had a bigger problem this year with some brown/grey dove-like birds which seem to like flying across the path at 1m height into the bushes right in front of me. It happened half a dozen times last night.

I must admit, having never been swooped I rarely took this thread as anything serious and had some fairly imaginitive mental images of how a cyclist would look / react to being swooped...

Well, I lost my Maggie swooping virginity last Friday (a bit of a downhill in Maylands, a little bit away from peninsular approaching Guildford Road). Certainly took me by suprise, didnt quite know what the noise was until I saw it fly past my shoulder.

Also got swooped twice more yesterday, out in the hills. Once on Mundaring Weir road heading toward Kalamunda and another at some other place heading back up toward Mundaring.

I cant recall exact locations for any of them, but I promise I wont giggle to myself too hard when reading of future reports!
It would appear that they are attracted to my white helmet, hopefully I dont get too many more close calls this season.

That map reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds". Creepy!

I tried to add a new attack location (Cadogan St Reserve Kingsley), but the map on the "Record an Attack" page was coming up blank. One bird, yesterday, a close fly by but no contact.
Today's effort = Tomorrows reward.

It's just about that time of year again.

Almost got swooped today riding in front of Perth Arena along the Wellington Street shared path. I think it swerved when it realised it was coming straight at my face. If you are heading the other way you might get it in the back of the head.
