Perth Bicycle Expo
Postby clog » Sat Oct 25, 2014 6:40 pm
Supposedly there is a bicycle expo on next weekend, 1st and 2nd of November.
I have not seen any advertising and their website says very little.
Is it still on?

Hello lovely likers, it is with great disappointment that we advise that the Perth Cycling Expo will not be proceeding due to unforeseen circumstances. The team are extremely disappointed with this outcome, as an event or festival celebrating the love of cycling has been welcomed by many of you and the community. Thank you for your support over the past months and keep your wheels spinning

I remember the seventies, and as such, I'm tempted to make an inappropriate quip regarding "inexplicable loss of funds" and "the bahamas". Or De Loreans.will not be proceeding due to unforeseen circumstances
(Went to the web page. No ABN, no names, no corporate sponsors - for some reason I expect the obituary to be pended by Peirpont )

I was really looking forward to this but yeah, total lack of marketing, support and advertising.

Yep. No contact details (just an online form), no names of any supporters or sponsors or exhibitors or event organisor or anything. Facebook pages seems to have disappeared. No activity on their Twitter and Instagram pages since August either.Thoglette wrote:I remember the seventies, and as such, I'm tempted to make an inappropriate quip regarding "inexplicable loss of funds" and "the bahamas". It is just too easy these days to knock up a web page though I expect that they had to pay a deposit and provide some details for the venue at least. It'd be nice to know who was behind it for future reference.

Good call. Got her linkedin page and facebook page and it just looks like an individual and nothing actually worked on. "Cycling Enterprises Pty Ltd" also pops up in conjunction with the expo but googling it reveals nothing other than the expo. I can go back to sleep now.nachoman wrote:A 'whois' search on the domain name will start you offColinOldnCranky wrote:It'd be nice to know who was behind it for future reference.

Before the rumour mill goes into overdrive, I can confirm I was involved in PCE 2014.
Yes it's a huge shame the event didn't get up and no-one is more disappointed than us. It's just as someone else on this thread suggested, none of the big guys wanted to venture west and many of the other brands simply didn't have the funds to attend.
We've refunded all those who did pay to exhibit and paid all of our suppliers etc. Sorry to disappoint but there's no offshore accounts and no DeLorean parked in my garage. In fact, we're all out of pocket trying to bring this event to Perth cyclists.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
Sorry we couldn't pull it off!

No probs Colin. We did try our best to get the message out and apologies we couldn't get to you sooner.ColinOldnCranky wrote:Thanks for getting back on this 88mph. I had actually put the dates in my calendar and there is nothing more frustrating than when something simply drops off the radar.

We have no plans to attempt another cycling expo.
