This is what 66.61km looks like

Postby ColinOldnCranky » Sun Nov 16, 2014 2:06 am

I do not like to leave it too long between ride-my-age rides and manage three or four a year. (It's a right-of-passage sort of thing for aging unicyclists around the world to do at least one each year.)

Well I haven't had too many opportunities for a full day ride since I returned from Europe. So after getting to my sisters place in Mount Lawley and on a whim (as these things always are) I continued further east to my nieces' place in Ashfield.

I think I am feeliing my age though. I am still tired and a bit more sore than I recalled from previous ride-my-age. Still, it's done and I won't feel the need to repeat it probably for the rest of the year.

Anyway, this is what 66.61km on a unicycle looks like after it's all done. It was BEEEEEUTIFUL!

Good job on the ride mate but could have chosen a nicer brew from that mob!

Good effort! I like that staircase too, any chance of a proper pic of it?

Well done on making the distance and how far you rode. I will say I was not sure what sort of picture I was going to see in here, so relieved it was a beer.

Top effort Colin.
That would be tough enough on two wheels let alone one.

I had to backtrack today in Mandurah to find my phone I had left in a shop. Extra kms not planned for gave me another shot at riding my age.

Second time done in a month! Maybe I'm not ready to retire just yet?

Naaah. Six working days to go and NOTHING is gonna make me go back to work. Growing old has it's benefits.

Great effort. Isn't the retirement just time to ride your age more frequently?
We had our annual wind up recently and the only retiree had ridden as many km as any 3 of the rest if us.

I passed you Sunday morning near the Roe heading southbound - called out your name :) was curious how far you were headed, nice effort down to Mandurah! Yourself and the guy on the roller blades with tree trunks for legs are PSP icons :D

Whoa! It's tempting to embellish my riding to epic proportions but in conscience I can't let you think I rode the whole way to Mandurah.

Normally I 'd ride to Murdoch and catch the train to Mandurah and then do a lot of riding there. But as it happened when I arrived at Murdoch I had a forty minute wait. So I used the time to get some exercise and pedalled to meet that same train at Cockburn. I was not quite at the platform when that train arrived then departed. So I went an extra leg to Kwinana after that.

I did ride south to Rockingham once to visit a mate. I found most of the ride so tedious and lonely that I swore off doing it again. It's much more fun riding around Mandurah, the marina and Halls Head.
