Giro d'Perth 2015 date announced

Postby hiflange » Fri Dec 05, 2014 12:47 am

Love this event. I think 2015 will be the 3rd year(?) It's on March 15th and earlybird registrations are open. Much fun, get a team together, get the family along or ride solo, either way you'll have a ball.

Coincidentally I ran into the organiser Toby Hodgson at the BWA cocktails evening on Tuesday.

Thanks for the heads up, this one is a good fit for me and other unicyclists. It's going into the diary.

Re: Giro d'Perth 2015 start map

Postby hiflange » Fri Feb 27, 2015 12:53 am

Giro d'Perth is two weeks away this Sunday. The start location was announced today, only 3k's from the finish at Perth Soccer Club / Dorrien Gardens.

Looks like I have a broken bone in my wrist after an operator error fall this week, so I won't be riding :(

I will still be there manning the WAHCC display (yes, the Penny Farthings will defintely be there!) so pleeeaase come and say hi. I'm keen to put some more faces to BNA names :-)

The Stensationals will be there for the third time. A good fun event. We may even channel our inner bogan!

Let me guess.. 2 stroke power "assist" with a carton bungee'd to the carrier :-)

Power assist is highly unlikely but the carton is a great idea!

hey hoping someone here could confirm - it says meet at the starting location between 8am and 10am for registration etc, but isn't really clear to me when the event actually starts. Once you arrive and are registered, can you start immediately? ie: register at 8am and away by say 8:15 or so?

Just want to avoid this heat slightly!

From memory last year, once you get your maps, you're pretty much good to go!

I'm easy to spot at the moment - I'm the bloke with two broken wrists. As I mentioned earlier I won't be riding :-( but I'll be there on the WA Historical Cycle Club stand. Please come and say hi.

Shower or two, 25°. Better than the 30°+ of previous events.

Great day (even though I didn't ride!) Good to see dv and metalrideroz again and thanks sprocket for saying "hi" :-) I stupidly left my camera at home so I only managed to get a few pics on the phone before the battery petered out;

Only completed half the 31km.

Bother had a fall (after clipping the rear wheel of my other brother...no doubt they were engaged in some sort of sibling rivalry race).

Couple of stitches to the chin and he's all good. Gutted I missed out on a beer and pizza though.

Well Giro # 3 completed. Another great year however took much longer to complete. We had to abandon the last few clues in order to get back in time for the presentations. Maybe we dallied too long over the coffee in Maylands.
Great fun and thank you to all the other teams we met on the way.
I must admit, however, the bogan gear got a tad warm which made the refreshment at the end all the more enjoyable.
Thank you Toby, we are already looking forward to the 2016 GdT
