Well, it's New Years Eve 2016 and I have been retired now for exactly one year.
If anyone want's some instruction in doing nothing just ask me. I have had adequate experience.

Good on you for continuing to look after yourself whilst living a life of leisure Colin!
Meanwhile, a return to work after the Festive Season is just around the corner for many of us.

My strategy was to win 'Super Lotto' - put 10% of my salary into it every pay for 35 years and it finally came up trumps at 55yo.
2023 Target: 9.500kms/100,000m

At the rate the government is raising the retirement age you will probably not be able to retire till you are 90!방구 똥 wrote:I'm planning to retire in the next 30-35 years, do you have any advice for me?ColinOldnCranky wrote:Well, it's New Years Eve 2016 and I have been retired now for exactly one year.

So the tax man can get their grimy hands all over it. Who knows what the cash grab is going to be in 30-35 years. At least make sure you are dept free and own your home so you can reverse mortgage and leave the kids nothingOldBloke wrote:Make sure your super is doing its job for you.방구 똥 wrote: I'm planning to retire in the next 30-35 years, do you have any advice for me?

You can retire any time you like - all the govt regs do is specify when you can access super funds or get an age pension. Aim to make yourself financially independent of a salary/wage and pick your own retirement date.Mediocratus wrote:At the rate the government is raising the retirement age you will probably not be able to retire till you are 90!

Hop onto Netflix and stream a season or so of "Weeds". It shows some awesome career options.방구 똥 wrote:I'm planning to retire in the next 30-35 years, do you have any advice for me?ColinOldnCranky wrote:Well, it's New Years Eve 2016 and I have been retired now for exactly one year.
