Hi Folks,
Just had an unfortunate meeting with a broken branch, laying across the PSP around 1km North of Mt Henry bridge.
Couldn't move it out of the way..
Grazed my elbow, ankle, and bruising around my hip.. but that's what happens when you interface with nature at 34kms.

hope you are OK Rusty
lets hope no more cyclists come a cropper and it gets moved. Hope it just popped off in this heat and wasn't deliberately placed there. Can't imagine it staying on the PSP long, plenty of traffic there

Hi Flashpixx,
Definitely not deliberately placed, it was still attached to the trunk high up.
Hitting the ice (the frozen kind), and thinking I might not ride tommorow.. could have been a lot worse.

Rather than "hope" it gets moved, I imagine someone will have reported it. A healthy number of cyclists have council rangers, emergency services etc on speed dial as well as apps for reporting these things.
I recall in 2013 there was a serious SERIOUS hazard in Como that did, indeed, take out a rider in circumstances that could easily have been fatal. It was pleasing to see at the time that it had been reported by an earlier rider and South Perth already had a crew on it's way at around 6am in the winter dark.

Hi Folks,
I turns out I understated my injuries a bit.. my GP said it was likely to be a overstretch of a muscle, so I rested for a week, went to a physio, and then on holiday to Bali for a week. It was there that I realised things weren't right,so I went back to the GP when I got back.. he sent me to the hospital, where X-rays revealed I had been walking around on a broken hip for 2 weeks !
Just got out of hospital today, with a few screws and plate holding everything together..
6 weeks before I can get on a bike again

Its a good thing that the branch was not a 3 year old child!

Had it been a 3 year old child, floating at head height across the track, I would more likely have noticed it.

Hey Rusty
Bugger mate! sounds nasty, hope the recovery is swift and painless.
Not sure what a child has got to do with a tree branch
