3 or 5 Dams

Postby Scott233 » Sun Jan 25, 2015 4:38 am

Hi guys

I'm looking for someone to join me in the 3 or 5 dams challenge.
Would prefer to just do 3 dams, I am fairly competitive and would like to find someone that could hold 30kph average minimum for the ride.

I'm 25 and ride regularly.

Anyone interested then let me know.

Thanks, Scott

Hey,
I had my partner pull the pin today. We are both paid up so he will need to sell his and Jersey. I can hold 30-40km normally around town @43 years young , however after doing the Dams last year you won't be sitting on 30kmph for the 147km.
If you are interested in teaming up and training up let me know. There is a group of us going as pairs ,so there good support, and drafting to be had

I managed over 30 last year with relative ease, just remember to check the Garmin is still on after lunch

Also did the fun parts of 5 dams (solo),

And yes I won't be doing either again any time soon

Thanks for the territorial pissing match there CX, however I didn't say average, I did say holding 30kmph for 147km.
Once again, I have a spare ticket should anyone be interested

Hi guys

When I said average I mean 30kph average for the ride. Not minimum of 30kph speed for the entire ride.

CXcommuter I could be interested in pairing up. I do all solo rides apart from some very slow ones with the brother in law every now and then.
Maybe one day in the future tee up a hills ride around the 3 dams loop or something similar?

Thanks

Sorry- wasn't meant to be a pissing match- just to show it can be done, the two key points was the weather (south westerly) and a big, very fast group from Wungong which sheltered people from the wind gettng across to the PSP then a belter all the way to the finish (and no issues with safety)
If you can ride at such a pace Scott233 you should consider 5 dams- it is a true epic, more about survival and pacing than 3 dams. And remember both rides can be done anytime for free. Unless you want the jersey, then a 5 Dams Jersey has more street cred

As for riding Scott- I won't be doing 3 Dams officially again- but happy to ride (I head out NOR with Malaga Cycles on saturdays)

I did the 5 dams last year it was a truly epic adventure.....many mixed emotions throughout the day overall enjoyed it and very happy with the achievement!

Going to run the 3 this year with a group of 6-8 and see what sort of time we can achieve stopping only to take on water.

Just a heads up if you're riding from Canning Dam towards Albany Hwy, there is a pothole just before the Churchman Brook crossing now about eight inches in diameter and four inches deep. Hit it at 50+km/h according to the GPS on the weekend, and it cost me a tube and a computer : (

Mixed emotions? didn't want to finish or couldn't be bothered at some stage?

Thanks for the heads up also on the pothole.

Thanks.

Never a doubt I would finish.....Albany Hwy section to Jarrahdale I hated the most. Just the usual aches and pains along the way with some bordem mixed in!!

Yea I think it is only 16.5 km of the ride(need to check that) but by far the most memorable and hated by me!!

I ride that section fairly regularly, it just seems to take so much more concentration. I particularly like the rumble strip.........
