Bike Doctor...

Postby Dirty32 » Thu Jan 29, 2015 3:42 pm

Driving through Northbridge to work this morning (ashamedly, need to get somewhere after work and could not ride today, although I was fairly happy given the humidity!), and spotted a pop-up type Bike Doctor set-up on Palmerston St, offering what I assume is free bicycle check-ups / maintenance.

Was this published anywhere, along with any similar initiatives, or was it more of a pot luck, if you just happened to be riding through there, you may have spotted it and had time to stop?

Nevertheless, it was great to see and hopefully we see it a bit more often about the place!

Thanks Andrew.

I am sure that I saw a little A-frame type sign that offered 'free bicycle check-ups' or something along those lines... Guess I could be wrong.

He sets up in the QV1 public car park between Murray and Hay Streets on the first Tuesday morning of each month. Pearce does good work and his pricing reflect his low overheads. I don't think he would complain about 'outsiders' dropping the I bikes off

They post on facial book their events.
I saw an old Repco with down tube shifters and oval chainring, very cool!

I organised something similar recently at my sons' school. Good turn up and fixed up lots of bikes for free ready for the school year...too busy to get pics though!

City of Vincent regularly organises these sessions with the Bike Dr.... Love living in Vincent as they are doing so much to promote cycling (lets hope the remnants of Vincent survive Emperor Colin the dark anti-cycling Lords plans)....

Bike Dr provides a great service.

I needed to replace my Chain Rings, Cassette, Chain and a full service....they were happy to do it for the normal price of a full service $130....I bought the parts from Wiggle so I saved even more.

I love the idea of a mobile bike service like this.

I would love to have my own little thing like that one day. Obiously not as comprehensive as the Bike Dr....but even maybe just having a tire pump in the back of my bike to help people. When you really look, you start to realize how many people are actually cycling with deflated tires. Just a quick pump-up and your ride feels 100 times better!

He has started doing regular clinics in Central Park too. There is one tomorrow and every second Thursday of the month.

It's worth noting they do regular servicing out of their workshop in West Leederville. it's just off Loftus Street between railway pde and Cambridge Street, Great service and servicing I might add.

Ive had about 6 bike cleans and a full service done by Pearce and Luke at BikeDr and have always been happy with their work. They only just got the agreement to do work in the Central Park building so i used to go past their workshop in Leedy but since thats on the way home for me its no biggie.
