Leederville PSP Bike Maintenance stand and tool facilities

Postby 0candles » Tue Feb 10, 2015 8:50 pm

Hello all
First ever OP so go gently please.
Any idea what became of the marvellous blue bike stand with tool set and floor pump from the Mitchell FW PSP next to the tennis courts in Leederville?
This morning I took a photo of it for my wife and on the return commute this afternoon it was nowhere to be seen. I First noticed it on the weekend and was so pleased to see that the Town of Vincent has had the forward thinking and courage adopt such a convenient facility. I dread the thought that it has been vandalised or swiped after less than a week.

I noticed one of these on the Maylands PSP at Banks reserve. Are they really that useful?
Perhaps if you break down within a km or so and you know its there.

I used the pump and and gave my front mech limiter screws a tweak to try it out. The best part is having a repair stand in my view.

We have an identical one in our end of trip facilities at the office. I should stress that it hasn't just appeared since the leederville one has vanished!

I saw it and contacted the City of Vincent and they said it was one of their initiatives - that was on Monday and they didn't mention that it was being taken away.

Actually pretty well kitted out and while it may not be great for a breakdown situation (unless you stop right there) if you have a slight flat or a rubbing brake pad or something that you can wait until you get there it is great.

Hope it hasn't come to an unfortunate end!

We have one where I work and it is a good thing, I've used it in anger a couple of times, and people have even added rags in the top basket for others to use.

Would be pretty sad if it got nicked the first day :| Not altogether surprising though, given the propensity of some to impede the rest of our ability to have nice things. Someone tried to nick ours actually - came to work and found all the anchor bolts gone out of it. I phoned it in to maintenance, thinking they'd done half a job of moving it - but it wasn't them (it is attached somewhat more robustly now)

Saw one at Beatty Park....then on my way to work along Leederville's park....was surprised to see it gone so quickly....surely it hasn't been stolen.

OK.....that link does not have the Leederville park one on it....maybe it was removed in favour of another location.

Wembley cycles had this pic on their Instagram, having a little winge to the Vincent council.

Placement fail, right next to the dog poo bin.

FYI
While the Leederville area is topical, there will be roadworks on Oxford from Vincent to Anzac, 17th-20th Feb to install bicycle lanes.

Its back. This time adjacent to the PSP and away from the no bike zone of the reserve and thankfully away from any dogs hit bins!

There is no helping self interested businesses.... told them as much on their Facebook page. They were also moaning and whining at the roadworks to install the cycle lanes, yet I have often visited there by bike and usually see a few bikes out the front.

Then of course after calling them out as being self interested they delete my comments on their post and lock it from further comments - Social Media FAIL

Noticed on Monday that this has been moved to the NE corner of Lake Monger, by the seat near the pagoda.

It is also suffering from vandalism ... the Council is considering its options apparently.

One installed by City of Stirling at the northern end of Clarko Reserve, Trigg, just north of Karrinyup Road roundabout where West Coast Drive and the coastal RSP diverge.

I was quite pleasantly surprised to see a new set of tools attached at this station yesterday but the pump still requires a new head. They left to notice of removal on it so it may be relocated in the near future.
