Midvale Speed Dome

Postby Hugor » Sun Apr 05, 2015 10:38 pm

I'm certainly not an elite cyclist but I would like to try riding in a velodrome.
I've searched on the net but only come up with events and so on.
How does someone have a ride in the velodrome?
Is it just a matter of turning up with your money etc?

Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere but a local forum search didn't reveal anything.

The two clubs which use Midvale that can get you in the track to try are Midland CC and track cycling WA. Midlands club night is Wednesday and Track Cycling WA have multiple weekday nights but I think only one suited to beginners. Google both clubs and there are contacts on the page to ring for the lowdown on giving it a try.

Come tonight. Tuesday night is "Old farts and new starts" their words not mine. $15 for bike hire and track entry. They have a couple of coaches who teach newbies.

Yeah i can second Pravda,s comments

I am a newbie I have been twice,3rd time tonight and its good fun once you get past the "I am gonna fall off this track cos its to steep" and it certainly gets your blood pumping we paid $20 each time we visited that was for the hire of the bikes, we(me and a mate) just turned up on the night i brought my own pedals and wore a long sleeved cycling shirt, the people are really friendly and made us feel really welcomed

we get there about 5.30 just so we can get bike sorted ect and leave about 8.30ish

Bike hire has been mentioned a couple of times. Does that imply visitors can't bring their own?

You can bring your own (one of our group did) but it has to be a track bike

I gave it a shot when I was about 20 with a mate. TV doesn't do the steep angle of the track's banking justice! I nearly crapped my dacks when I saw it the first time hahaha.
