Route to Mandurah

Postby david.mcl » Fri May 22, 2015 12:21 am

Hi all. A friend would like to ride down to Mandurah (from CBD) on the weekend. I've no idea about southern suburbs so would appreciate if anyone has a strava/garmin/etc route that we can use. Riding roadies, so OK with road or PSP but as there's only 2 of us we'd prefer not to be on any really busy roads...

Use the search, Luke!

There's a number of threads already. Short answer is freeway PSP until munda-very-long-word-road or the one before. :D

Hi Luke

Pretty much as Thoglette says. It is bike path all the way almost. At Cranford Ave you need to cross Cranford ave and follow the road for around 200 metres before getting back on the path. It is a quiet suburban st and you will be lucky to see a moving car on it. After Cranford Ave section it is path all the way to a few choices to turn off into Mandurah. Easiest solution really is to turn off at Mandjagoordap Rd and follow that into Mandurah. It will get you to the Train Station basically. Mandjagoordap Rd is on road riding in a bike lane. This lane is about a good car width wide and pretty safe compared to most other on road lane riding opportunities.

There is a bike path at the end of Mandjagoordap Rd that will keep you off the road for a bit if you want to head towards Mandurah Forum or something. If you are heading to the Foreshore you will need to Zig Zag your way through the burbs a bit to get there.

Export a TCX (Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation )
Or GPX file from here.

I like riding down the coast on the way and shared path on the way back. So, this map but return from Mandurah instead of going further south:
