Writing with my WAHCC hat on...
Jim Fitzpatrick postponed his trip west last year but he's been back on the blower. We have confirmed a date for his author talk in Perth - July 20th - and he'll be speaking in Albany a day or two later (watch this space). Jim's 4 books are fantastic; great research brought to life with wonderful writing.
This really is a great opportunity to spend time with a world class historian with a specialised interest in all aspects of cycling and it's impact on Australian culture and sport. And yes, he'll be signing books
There's an interview with him here on BNA
The Perth talk will take place at the WAHCC clubrooms in Ardross. If it looks like we'll get more than 40 or 50 people along we'll find another venue in the area. All the info here

My apologies if the question sounds ignorant, but I'm not familiar with his work - What does he write about ?
Thanks
David

He writes about the history of bicycles in Australia, their impact on our social, cultural and sporting heritage. The links in my original post will give you some more info. The titles of his books are a pretty good guide as well - "Major Taylor in Australia", "The Bicycle in Wartime". If you have the slightest interest in local history this is for you. AFAIK Jim wrote his first book The Bicycle and the Bush while living in WA and working at the WA Museum and it has a lot of WA references in it.
