Started training for the Tour de Gracetown in November. Did this loop yesterday. Roads are good, especially appreciated the bike lane up Crystal Brook.

Whups.. re-read. You went up Crystal Brook.
Anyway...
Here's the way I transverse Kalamunda/Lesmurdie North to South. Avoids the busier roads but Still mixes it up with a few nice little "stabs". Burma Rd particularly. It took me a few goes to not get lost through there.
The view from Melaleuca Rd on a clear night opens up across the city spectacularly.

I live in Lesmurdie and the view from Melaleuca Rd is indeed a high point of my commute home. As for linking through Lesmurdie I take a similar route to yours except I take Trafalgar Road from Falls Rd to Ford Rd, instead of Nelson Crescent.
There are lots of good quiet back roads through the Kalamunda area. Glenisla - Aldersyde or Palmateer - Haleendale - Stanhope are nice back routes that can be used to link Pickering Brook to Kalamunda.

Yeah. I've picked up a few. Was more just making a suggestion after seeing Flash's double back at the end of Falls Rd. Pretty sure I made the same mistake earlier on myself when trying to avoid the likes of Lesmurdie Rd from N to S. I think it's Trafalgar Rd I follow when going from S to N; I go up Gladys, past Mazenod, left at the end and right at Trafalgar. I do the Grove Road climb/approach to Bickley sometimes to.
Of course the next progression from Kalamunda central to Welshpool Rd east would be via Mund Weir Rd/Aldersyde/Glen Isla coming out at the end along Canning Rd Somewhere. Paterson Rd / Pickering Brook ideally

thanks guys... yeah first time so a few whoops moments
Topping Crystal Brook and getting across to Melaleuca was fun, ended up walking across. Busy intersection.... Will do it again but I think I will drive out to Woody's and do the loop from there. Guildford Rd out that way isn't cycle friendly.

Nice ride. Holmes Road from Maida Vale is probably better than Hawtin. From Kalamunda you could have come down the Zig Zag out to Ridge Hill Road which is pretty good riding too.
