I'm sure I'm not the only SoR commuter who looks to his/her right in the afternoon at the flags on Mounts Bay Rd going over the narrows to see how brutal of a headwind we'll have.
As of a week or two ago they're gone - including flag poles.
I had always thought the flags were quite iconic, and I can't find anything on the interwebs about it.
Anyone know what the story is?

This?
oversized movements in Perth
It was originally scheduled for two weeks ago and postponed for this weekend.
Looking forward to getting the shared bridge at Elizabeth Quay finished.

Main Roads are doing some widening works and so the flags had to come down. Apparently they are also a hazard to drivers if they lose control and hit them. I think that new poles are going to be put up eventually.

You were not the only one, I've been trying to work out the wind without flags a few times, looking forward to their return

I use the giant Australian Flag to the left (as you head south). You can see it very clearly once you exit the underpass. I find it more reliable than the Mount St Flags

Sometimes they seem confused, the left ones pointing right, the right ones pointing left, the one in the middle doesn't know which way to go.Gashead wrote:I use the giant Australian Flag to the left (as you head south). It looked like they were re-installing them this afternoon.
