Road Design Changes Engineers Need to Make Happen [EA Talk]

Postby Thoglette » Tue Jul 21, 2015 12:33 pm

The Transport Australia society is hosting a talk today at the Institute of Engineers which sounds interesting.

I cannot attend - is anyone else going who can report back?

Overview

It has become clear that for the road safety aspiration to be realised, the engineering of the system needs to significantly improve. The Chair of the Organisation for Economic and Co-operation Development’s (OECD) Working Group for Safe System Implementation will discuss the progress made together with the most important changes transport engineers need to make happen.

About the Speaker

Iain has recently taken up the position of Chair of the (OECD) Working Group on Safe System Implementation with 25 member countries and 5 global organisations participating.

Iain has been with the Office of Road Safety for 15 years and Main Roads WA for 6 years. Previous appointments include the Departments of Education, Health, Premier and Cabinet, Family and Children’s Services and Edith Cowan University.

Iain holds a Bachelor of Physical Education and Diploma of Education from the University of Western Australia and a Post-graduate Diploma in Health Promotion and Master of Public Health from Curtin University. Iain is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
