A friend had a recumbent stolen a while ago and I'd guess just for the novelty value, after the crims finished with it they just cut all the cables so that it couldn't be ridden home and dumped it nearby. It's got to be hard to sell a handcycle and the parts are pretty specific so it is more likely dumped.
This handcycle might still be nearby, gives us somewhere, a location (roughly) where it was stolen from, it helps.
