Also, what were the outcomes for Thomas Lyons? Recovery? Riding again?

Anyone know the eventual outcome for Thomas Lyons? Riding again?
Also any idea of the outcome from the courts?

Hit-and-run driver who crippled Murdoch University Professor Thomas Lyons jailed
Joanna Menagh ABC Online wrote:A 48-year-old man has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years' jail for a hit-and-run crash that left cyclist and Perth university professor Thomas Lyons, with a serious and ongoing brain injury.

Last month O'Brien was convicted of charges of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, failing to stop and render assistance to Professor Lyons, failing to report the crash and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

a three and a half year custodial sentence for a non-death incident?
colour me surprised.
though I suspect he could be out in much less with "good behaviour" .. ?
(while the victim lives with the consequences for life )

Judge said that he would have considered no prison time if the driver had stopped & tried to help, rather than running away & attempting to cover it up.
It's another example where the driver's excuse "I was chronically tired" exacerbates the seriousness of the offence - why was he driving at all ?

Hooray.
I have some recollection that his wife may have been ready to out him at the time as he "had no idea" how the front of his hilux (locked behind the garage doors being badly repaired by himself) got damaged.
