Path Closure - Baigup Wetland

Postby blkmcs » Wed Apr 27, 2016 1:30 pm

A heads up for anyone who uses the path between Kelvin Street and Garratt Road

The walkway/cycle path through Baigup will be closed from Monday 2 May to Friday 6 2016.
Trial remediation works in the acid/saline scald area will be undertaken.
Fox trapping will also be done. Foxes, though rarely seen, are common in the City of Bayswater.

A detour through Stone Street to Garrett Road will be organised by the City of Bayswater.
Not sure how well the detour will be marked but for anyone not familiar with Stone Street it is blocked off at the bend so you will need to hop the kerb to continue along Stone Street and join up with Kelvin Street.

Saw the sign yesterday but haven't been able to find anymore information, can you please pass on where you got the low-down?

I know Stone Street well as it's just around the corner from my place. There is a ramp and bollard at the bend in so you don't need to kerb hop. However, you do need to be aware of vehicles on the section of Stone St between the bend and Garratt Rd as there are several narrow points due to traffic islands and it's a busy rat-run as motorists try to avoid the lights at Guildford.

Steve, the info came from a circular from BWIG, also on their Facebook page

Thanks Mike,

I did some more digging and found the plan on the City of Bayswater website:
http://www.bayswater.wa.gov.au/cproot/5 ... -trial.pdf

Note that the dates on the electronic sign at the Stone St end of the path state that it will be closed from the 4th of May to the 13th of May (well, that's what it said this morning).

Thanks for the link.
I hadn't seen the sign until tonight.
Rumour has it that the sign will be changed to show the correct dates tomorrow.
