It that a bike path being constructed in Guildford?

Postby twowheels » Thu May 12, 2016 7:25 pm

I've been having to visit Guildford a bit recently. Is the work being done between the railway line & GE Hwy from Guildford Grammar toward Midland station a bike path?
Will the path next to rail from Perth then be complete?
thanks

Sure is a bike path, there's a PDF on the transport website that outlines the plan over the next X number of years. I think there's still another section to add later on down the track linking Midland to Cannington

Thanks. How far can the PSP from Perth toward Midland along rail line be ridden at the moment?
Also, how far does the PSP along the western/northern bank of the river continue to?

Can these be ridden as a circular route crossing/joining where Swan River crosses at Guildford Road?

The Midland Line PSP goes all the way to the Swan River, then there's a 500-600m section on the footpath (will be less once the Guildford Station parking is complete) and then the PSP continues to East Guildford Station. The final section to Morrison Road is currently under construction, should be complete in the next couple of months.

On the Swan River, the northern PSP goes up to Tonkin Hwy (though there are a couple of gaps) and is reasonable quality, it's all on road through Ashfield and Bassendean. On the southern side the PSP goes up to South Guildford, but is poorer quality and has some larger gaps (particularly near Tonkin Hwy and Ascot Keys). Overall I'd say neither the north or south paths are ideal, but the southern one is more suitable for less confident cyclists (less traffic).
