Green Bicycle Light at Barrack & Esplanade...

Postby Gunnadothat » Thu Jun 09, 2016 11:19 pm

Hi All,
At the risk of feeling like a fool...
I've noticed that there is a bicycle light on the intersection of Barrack St and the Esplanade.
I'm just wondering what is allowed when the bicycle light is green - is it to cross straight ahead only, or can I proceed left?
I haven't seen it in operation as I go through the other way or via the Quay, but I'd rather not be booked for something I'm unaware of.
cheers all.

ps: The only silly question is the one that isn't asked..... :D

Just like a car would. Give way to pedestrians before turning left.

Absolutely.

The signals were designed to avoid conflict with the double left turn, so cyclists can go straight on with their own phase. Being able to turn left, giving way to pedestrians if turning left is also a bonus. Alternatively, you can use the shared path via the back of the big tree, or from the pram ramp at the front. Lots of choice depending upon what's happening around you.
